a friend gave me his 2014 street glide rear shocks ( the coil over with the adjustment nob ), my question being are they that much better shock than the air adjustable ones on my 2011 road glide custom, is it worth the time to change them? i don't have any air leaks on the old shocks

Yes! They are much better! You can preload them and they take bumps much better. Especially if you're a bigger guy or ride two-up or with a load often. I have the 12" premium shocks(coil springs with knob) and they are better than my 13" RGU air shocks.
