Removing the fairing is ridiculously easy with the 2015. I was going to take pictures but they're really not needed, it's THAT easy.

1) Remove the speaker grills. They pop right out, just make sure you pry them up from their inner edges (as in the side closest to the gas tank). Using something plastic to pry with is a good idea but I used a regular screwdriver and didn't damage anything.

2) Remove the single torx bolt in each speaker box. It's outboard of the speaker.

3) Remove the bottom torx bolt from the wind deflectors. There's no need to remove the top one.

4) Remove the bolt from each front turn signal.

5) Remove the windshield. No more well nuts, just screws (hallelujah!). At this point the fairing will be fairly loose. I stood in front of it and pressed myself against it.

6) Remove the top (middle?) vent. It pops right off, just give it a good yank up from the front.

7) Unplug the turn signal connections. It is VERY obvious which ones they are. They're just inboard of the two middle windshield screw holes and connect to wires on the inside of the outer fairing.

8) Pull the fairing forward and it comes right off. No more hooks! (hallelujah again!)

I'm working out how to run a hidden antenna and haven't put the fairing all the way back on yet but I'd popped it back on a few times to check clearance of the antenna amp and I'm confident it will go back on as easily as it came off. The expression "famous last words" comes to mind ;-)

Hopefully I'm not repeating anyone else's post about this.

The fairing is marginally harder to put back on, so in other words it's amazingly easy to put back on compared to a 2004.

I decided after placing the fairing and vent back on to put windshield on first because it's the easiest place to start securing it to the bike since you can easily use your legs to keep it in place.

OK, one other observation. Don't tighten everything up until all the screws and bolts are partially screwed in. I had to loosen a few so i could push on the fairing to get holes lined up. Even so it took me far less time than an 04 fairing and i didn't curse even once.

Dealer wanted 4 hours labor to install XM and hidden antenna amp. Took me 30 minutes. When I told them, they said oh we've never removed a 2015 fairing before. Hopefully they'll update their quote book.

Careful here.....the manual says ( and I agree ) to leave two of the windshield screws loosely in place as hangers for the fairing as you remove the rest of the fasteners. Also, in case nobody caught it....the turn signals STAY with the fairing! How cool is that!!!???
And yes.....all the fasteners now go into metal ( brass lugs or a nut clip ) MUCH better design. As is the entire bike!
The manual also says to pull the grills up at the areas where the clips are, you'll be able to see the beefed up areas. I used a small allen wrench to slip through the holes in the grill. Be careful not to hit the speaker cone....

Excellent post, thank you! I am going to replace the power point with a cigarette lighter like my old RG had... Sounds easy enough.

You'll have to cut the stock end off and put a couple of spade connectors on it. At least I had to on my '15. The plug for the power port is different from the cigarette lighter plug. I didn't feel like cutting and splicing wires so I just went with the spade connectors.

How did it go? I need to do this because I have a chopped Tour-pak to add on. Did you use the H-D hidden antenna?

Great info here. I like to start by removing the wnd screen and upper vent cover. At that point you can fit your fingers down from the top and pop the speaker grills out from the back side. No prying or pulling from the front necessary. Then as MC-3MEK suggests, loosely put a couple screws back in the wind screen holes, or at least one in the center, to keep the fairing from falling off while you remove the rest of the screws as Scooter describes. Just my two cents. :)

After removing my fairing on my 2010 either 11 or 12 times so far THIS year alone, this is one more thing that is getting me the "2015 bug". Maybe used prices will be under $20 when the 16's come out.

Great Info! ,thanks for the post. I just traded my '08 Street Glide for a 2016 RGS and need to add a hidden antenna and Flash2Pass garage door opener. This will be a big help!

I just had my 16 RGS fairing off a couple of days ago to install the J&M extreme amp and speakers. I had never had a shark fairing off before. After watching J&P's video it was so simple and quick. The head light assembly is really easy to remove, 4 allen head screws. Putting it back on was just as easy after the install. No alignment issues at all and just slipped right into place. When I put it back on, I put the two front screw where the windshield goes first to hold it in place. Then I start each of the other screws in their respective places before I started tightening the screws down snug. Then pulled the 2 windshield screws out and installed the upper wind cowling and the windshield. Piece of cake.
