If you guys with new 2017s could look at something for us. The parts diagram shows a new type of saddlebag fastener. It appears to be a lever type. If you could tells us if it works better than the old fasteners.

I tried the new saddlebag fasteners at the dealership. I think it's a big improvement to the old style....no way the saddlebag will fall off,
Wonder if the new fasteners can be retrofitted to the "old" style saddlebags?

They should. They have a parts kit for all needed items to retrofit them.

90201540 Saddlebag mount kit (4) sets

(10200533 screw single sided lever & 104000034 nut clip)

You reuse the rubber isolators.

Much better than old pins. Had 14 sgs ... now 17 RGS... these are much better.

An improvement of epic proportions. My wife could never do the old lid tilt and unlatch. She has no problems with the levels. Also the single latch on the new tour packs is great also.

There is, however, drawback. It is more difficult to over stuff your bags because you have to have clearance for the lever to lock on the metal loop inside the bag.

He was referring to the new lever that holds the bags to the bike. #9/27 on the diagram

Gonna run about $39 from New Castle HD for the kit. No one has it in stock. A new 2017 part.

Yup tried them also - my 2cents
HD needs a less gimmicky solution that actually secures your bags from theft
these little handle thingies are false scense of security -
it's bulky and should have a lock that is keyed to your bike key
bags still can be stolen if left unlocked

I use the security bolts - can't go wrong
it's flat wont get in the way of nothing in the bags
although - a PITS to unscrew it's secure! even when bags are left unlocked

nice try MOCO

Yep install on any year saddle bags no more PS twist locks that splits. Home Depot or Lowes save the HD high dollar part for same results and more clearance inside the bags.

My local dealer thought these are so cool! he ordered 50 sets of the fasteners "and they are cool" they actually have retainer washers on the inside that will prevent them from backing out, . Yep I am getting me a set when the arrive. Just one more item changed that shows Harley's attention to detail they had when creating this new machine.

I am starting to sell a bolt on kit that will work for 1993-2016 touring models. I am asking $20 plus shipping for those that are interested let me know. Or take a look at them on Facebook at Bolted Bags.

They are made of all Stainless Allen bolt, flat washer, and high collar lock washer. The kit also has a nut plate for easy install. Speaking of easy install I press a knob that is made in the USA onto the Allen bolt so NO tools are required to remove or install your bags.

Sorry having a hard time uploading pictures to this site. Please visit my Facebook page Bolted Bags to see pictures. Thanks
