Well, I'd say basically they are designed and manufactured by humans, so therefore the failure rate will be > 0.

How common is it? Hard to say.

Dry rot or belt separation. Judging by your curvy wear pattern I see cupping as well…..

Yeah, I'm gonna go with the dry rot theory as well. That's a lot of sitting around if the bike only has 5000 miles on it.

Nope. Running hard and age is what will kill tires, before their time.

Kinda looks like under inflated and the cupping makes me wonder if the shocks the new bikes have can't cause it
