While preforming the first 1k mile service I noticed the dealer didn’t go but 1/2 way up the stick with there original fill. When I purchased all the fluids for the 1k service I was sold 5 Quarts of engine oil. After 4.5 quarts is now higher on the stick then original levels. Any thoughts?

Initial thought is they just didn’t fill it. I run a half quart low all the time. Never know or understand why shit isn’t the way it’s supposed to be.

Running the oil level below the full mark? this is what happens........ The oil circulates more often which means it will get hotter because it doesn't have time to dissipate the heat. the chance of oil foaming is greater and believe it or not.... oil life is shorter than expected. i could go on for a while but you get the jest!

as long as the oil level is between the hash marks, your oil is not low. ergo, it won't foam.

now, if you fill it to the tippy top, your bike is going to be none to pleased with you and spit out enough until it gets to the level that it likes, which is typically about midway between 'add' and 'full'.

Not all drains out.
Filling it to full mark cold will result in oil blow by reaching a point it will likely dip for Air cleaner.
1/2 up the marks for on jiffy stand it good. By the time it is fully warmed up it will be full.

My habit is fill to 4.5. run it let it fill filer up . Let it sit check it if it is between 1/2 to 1/4 from full I ride and forget about it.

Transmission kind of the same. Drain good. add 27 OZ. screw in until it just touches Oring check. do not over fill.
The reason they went to 27 OZ and check was people were over filling it.
