the whole point of a bike is to be in the wind...Depends on your height. I went from a non fairing Big Dog chopper to my RG. I'm 5'7" and put a 8" Klockwerks on. Wind doesn't bother me. Tall windscreens, lower fairings, wind deflectors???? It's like driving a convertible car with the top down and all the side windows up because it's too windy.

I have both, Your Windvest will provide more protection than the 8" KW. Although the KW looks better it's slanted more so depending on your height the air hits you right in the eyes and ears.

Mechanical1, I have to disagree with you. For most of my life (and that's a long time) I rode without a windshield, riding with no windshield is better than riding with the wrong windshield. It's not about knocking down or blocking all the wind, with the wrong windshield you get all the buffeting. With no windshield the wind and air is constant so it doesn't feel like your head and ears are getting slapped as you ride...or at least this is how it is for me.

I have an 8" kW and a 10" freedom shield. Love the looks of the kW, but not a lot of wind protection and I'm a short guy, 5'7" and sitting on a lower than stock seat. If you want wind protection stay with the 10", if you want looks and don't mind wind hitting your sunglasses go with the 8" kW. Love my freedom shield but I'm still getting used to the looks of it

Actually no it isn't.

riding with no WS is better than riding with the wrong one.

When you are being hammered by buffeting it's much different than simply riding without.

Having said that, I still ride with the shortest shield I can get while still properly managing buffeting.

Buffeting is more like being smacked around as opposed to just a steady stream of wind.

The best looking motorcycles are bike with minimalist styling. eg BigDod, or a Road Glide with a 6" Klock Werks. But in my own opinion, I think that a Road Glide looks great with lowers, or wind deflectors or a 19" windshield. These are versatile bikes and they look great no matter which windshield is on. I have a 8" Klock Werks. I looks great. It is why I purchased my bike. For practicality and looks I currently ride with a WindVest 13't". Great shield. Okay, actually, I don't ride right now. 2' of snow outside the garage. Waiting for April.
