For those needing this service done, don't believe the HD BS that the Digi-tech is needed for ABS it's complete BS. Now if by chance you introduce air into the system, then the digi-tech will be needed to bleed the system and module.

I just did this, 45 min tops flushing both clutch and ABS, total cost $10 for a bottle of DOT 4. Very simple process.

In this case, the guy has an incomplete understanding of the system he is working on.

While you could bleed the system if you were to say, replace a caliper. You can not properly bleed it if air is introduced above the abs unit, like when a longer brake line is added to adapt for taller bars. There will always be a risk of air entering the ABS unit as it pass the damper orifice. And as far as the fluid change service goes, that's a whole nother procedure. Its a fluid change, followed by an ABS flush procedure, and another fluid change.

The ABS unit is bypassed during normal brake operation. When in ABS function, it uses a pump, an accumulator and some valves to apply and release the brakes. During the flush procedure, it uses these same components to move fluid in and out of the system, so as to flush it.

You don't need to take it to the dealer to get it done with a DT2. You can do it with an interface and a laptop.

There is a long thread on the subject complete with valve body schematics. And a little clip of the flush being done to a rear brake.
