I replaced front brake pads on my 2012fltru without opening the master cyl. Shortly after i kept getting an intermittent ABS light coming on.
Now the light stays on permanently and i have theses codes present.

C1025 front wss intermittent
C1032 front wss open or shorted
C1151 front wheel release to long
U1040 loss of communication with ABS which could be when the battery died over the winter...

Any help on repairing would be greatly appreciated...

Thanks!.

I'd clear the codes and see if they come back.

If they do come back I'd do these things in this order;

1. Carefully inspect the wheel speed sensors and ensure that you didn't damage the sensors or the wires when you changed your brakes.
2. Ensure that you properly reinstalled the wheel speed sensors when you were re-assembling your calipers.
3. Clear the codes, pull the main fuse and let the bike sit overnight. Come back, put the master fuse back in and see if the codes return.
4. If the codes return, you may need to take the bike in to get the ABS brake system properly bled.

If you get to number 4 you may be at the mercy of the dealer or Indy.

That's a bad signal from the front wheel speed sensor.

Since you were down there changing the pads, you where dealing with the wiring leads from the sensors. Its easy to pinch the harness when putting the retainer back on. If you're not comfortable with disassembling the connector and repairing the harness, just by a new sensor. Bout $65 IIRC.

The sensors can also be damaged if they were allowed to drop out when the axel is pulled.

If the harness looks good, its cheaper to buy a new sensor than to buy the break out box to diagnose it with.

I'm not sure what i did but i retraced my steps, cutting the ty-wraps along the brake line and checked the connection and harness from the wss to under the tank.
I found nothing wrong. I cleared the codes and reconnected everything and took it for a ride and everything seems to be working normal..Light flashes until i start to roll and goes out.

I would have much rather have found a broken wire or bad connection! Hoping it stays off!

Thanks for all your help!...

Update on this ABS issue after working for a while the light came back on! I decided to replace the front sensor. light still on! So I went back to the harness. with an ohm meter i kept moving the harness around and found the blue and brown wires twisted together the abs connector..
about 1" back from the connector, the blue wire didn't feel right! The wire itself was broken under the plastic insulation..

I cut it installed a butt connector with heat shrink and that was my problem! Thanks for all the help!...
