I have been looking into ways to add more cooling to my 13 BBP FLTRU.

I went lo a local parts recycler and found 2 prime condition late model Tahoe/Suburban tranny coolers.

I took them home, cleaned them, ground off the rivets for the mounting brackets, turned 2 of the brackets upside down and mounted the coolers over the holes for the flow through vents in the lowers.

I added new brass fittings and hose... Checked for leaks.

Bike dropped 25* max idle temp and dropped 35* for highway speed oil temps.

I can now idle in stalled traffic jams for over an hour an not go over 250* oil temps on a 95* day.

The bike also runs between 210* and 230* max between 45mph and 85mph on a 97*+ day.

Cooling efficiency updated

95* 85% humidity pavement temps 145*
2 hour trip at 45mph-85mph
engine oil temp 225-245

Coolers are cutting oil temp 30*-40* AND the motor is amazingly quiet.

CD is always 4-5 clicks quieter since adding the cooler.

Temp after idling 1.5 hours in sun is only 260* and stable...

Anyone interested in how to cool down their bike and prolong oil, bearing and engine life just let me know.

Your running a high overlap cam, it will run MUCH cooler than a SE255

Also you are running unleaded with a stoich of 14.9 or e10 with a stoich of 14.4 I am running Oxygenated E10 in the Birmingham epa zone with a Stoich of 13.9 that burns HOT!

My Suburban, Impala and Quest all lost 10%-15% mpg gallon when we moved here. The BBP lost 15%

When I went to Ga last week and Memphis yesterday I got temps in the 190*-210* range and my fuel mileage went up 4-6 mpg...

When you add the coolers vertically you are adding capacity ABOVE the oil filter adapter return! Not only adding capacity but adding cooling as well. The lower cooler between the framerails is also in the loop and it has added NO starvation issues whatsoever. You have 8psi-16psi at hot idle PUSHING the oil back to the return. AT 32-36 psi running down the road starvation is near impossible.
The motor is ridiculously quieter now when parked in a traffic jam. It is also MUCH quieter when cruising. 4 to 5 clicks quieter when playing the cd player. The wife says she can hear the speakers MUCH better at 85mph with the sound 4 bars lower!
