Is having a Reverse gear on a RG "GAY"? I got stuck in a down hill parking lot a while back,( I know, my bad) and needed some one to help me get out of the predicament. I also have gravel parking lot at my house, so getting the bike into the garage up hill has been difficult every time. I was thinking of adding the reverse gear for those moments where you REALLY need to be able to back up. I was told it was gay to have reverse gear on a RG. Not sure why this was said. It seems to be a good idea to me. It would certainly be much easier to back into my garage through the gravel.

I was not looking for the one with the lever you have to pull but more so the one with a simple switch on the bars to engage it.

I think the one with the lever looks old school. Buddy has had two bikes with reverse. he wont be without it. He pays big bucks for those.

I don't think it's "Gay" at all. You do what works for you. BTW I'll be going to the AMS expo in Orlando this weekend, there's a guy there from Tampa who does reverse set ups for Harleys, I'll get the information and post it here.

Do what makes you happy

For the rare times you think you need it is one thing. If the house thing is a big part but your garage floor is paves get the stand you can roll onto and turn the bike any which way and also push sideways so it can be stored in the corner when needed.
But if your mind is reverse driven, do it. Like all the things we do to our scoots do it big and do it right. Good luck and share the story.

If I could justify the cost , I would get one , but I don't really need it .. Sounds like your set up at home would justify it unless , like was said , you could get the stand that you could spin it around ..

Rainbow reverse lever might be a tad bit gay, especially if the bike is engaged in "Parade mode", or perhaps a colorful button.

Really, ride it like you stole it, and to hell what anyone else says. I've seen a guy have his OL push him back from the downhill sidewalk to get back into the street. (kinda funny but really none of my business)

Sounds to me like whoever said it was gay is gay, was he checking his hair when he said it?? Hell Goldwings have reverse, you don't consider those guys gay do you, er uh well bad example L:grin:L

My old ass has thought about getting a reverse from time to time but beside the cost I hate letting just anyone mess with my transmission. I wish Harley offered a reverse as an option.

I dont think its gay. 2 guys riding on a bike.........gay,,
Some 35 years ago I rode on the back of a buddy's KZ1000 (out of necessity) with no sissy bar on the Belt Parkway in Brooklyn NY. I would have rather fallen off the back holding some seat bar or something behind me than put my arms around him. He was riding like a bat out of hell. Glad I lived to tell about it.

Flat ground, parked at buddy's lake cabin, front end was in a divot, I was facing the lake and the parking area was 5 feet above yard area (retaining wall). I'll be damned if I didn't need his help to get thing backed up (rock drive, feet kept slipping). Reverse would have worked for me in that situation. Now I only had one instance in 5 years on this bike so cost of reverse isn't worth it to me. You do what you want with your bike, damn the public opinion.
