Riding across WI and to the ferry, cross the lake to ride in Traverse City area and then around the north side of Lake Michigan and home.

Looking for advice on where to stay, ride and see. Thanks.

Can't give you advice on Traverse City, etc; but when you traversing Wisconsin you may want to give some thought on checking out the Harley factory in Tomahawk, WI where they make saddlebags, windshields and do alot of paint sets. You can check out tour days/hours on Harley's official site.

Also, if you have any mechanical problems while in northern Wisconsin, I can highly recommend this independent shop if you need a fix. Owners name is Mike:

When you leave Traverse City and head north, say as close to the lake as you can. Follow 31 north to Petoskey, then take 119 to Cross Village. Its called the tunnel of trees, a great ride. Once in Cross, stop at Legs Inn, a very unique building / restaurant and bar. It is a polish restaurant, with great food and several polish beers on tap.

Was there last year, will be there again this year as I head to the UP to ride in cooler weather:)

Leave Cross headed north 119 and go on to Mackinaw City.

If your looking to do any sight seeing in the UP I recommend tahquamenon falls, Once you cross the Bridge take 123 off of I-75 to the falls. While there head up to whitefish point and the Shipwreck museum.

Aslo in the UP is Pictured Rocks National sea shore, and Feyette and old ghost town.

Lots of desolate roads in the up.:)

I'm near TC and have been coming here for 30 years. When are you planning to arrive? Reason I ask is during Cherry Festival and the Film Festival motels and campgrounds fill up. If you have time Leelanau county is a good ride. M-22 to Empire, Glen Arbor, Leland- Fish Town, Northport, Suttons Bay then TC. Traverse City has a nice downtown and beaches. After TC I would follow the coast, 31 to Petoskey where there will probably be traffic. If you have time stay on the coast to Harbor Springs then 119 to Mackinaw.

Sleeping Bear Dunes, the boardwalk trail view in this ad is the Empire Bluffs trail on Wilco Rd just south of Empire. The Pierce Stocking senic drive is very nice too but you will have to pay the park entrance fee to use this drive. If you are old like me pick up your lifetime Golden Eagle National Park Pass for $10 at park headquarters in Empire, good for any National Park.

Cherry Festival starts next weekend so that will be over after a week. However looks like you will be here during the Traverse City Film Festival, July31-August 5. This is a big event and brings folks from around the world. Last year the festival sold 128,000 tickets. Don't be discouraged as the town is exciting during the festival but consider seeking a motel in the outlying area or towns. This whole northwest area of Michigan is a resort area so there are motels everywhere. I'm in Interlochen, 15 miles from TC a couple of motels here too. Interlochen is a cycle friendly place with two cycle shops, Cycle More and Sleeping Bear Motorsports I'm sure you could find something in Traverse City too if you are willing to reserve now. I'm sure you will enjoy your visit. I'll be here, riding and attending a few films in town. Send me a PM closer to your departure and maybe we can meet somewhere. :) http://www.traversecityfilmfest.org/festival-basics/
