Yep. Same exact problem. The abs is too thick for the premium stuff to work. I tried grinding & its stil not gonna work. I've made up my mind to switch to an oem pak & lid. I scored a brand new primered lid on ebay, & I've got the bottom on order from boardtracker hd. I was just going to use the new lid on my old bottom, but nothing lines up. My old pak is as sturdy as can be, but I spent the $$$$ on the premium latches & hinges & by golly I'm gonna use em!
Took TP and Premium hardware to my local high end body shop and was told that he can get it to work with little effort and free!
Keeping my fingers cross as I leave for a 3 week road trip to fla in 2 weeks!
Pics of completed job.
Aftermarket TP with premium rack and quick disconnect, tether, King back rest, got it from an add on HDF for $200. Winds up when meeting the guy I grew up with him and his family moved out of state 40 yrs ago. Small world.
Custom dynamics run brake light strip $125
Painted Harley fairing patched the holes from King backrest and painted candy orange. $400
Premium hinges $50.

Figured the plasti-dip served its life after several seasons. I do recommend it, but after having trailered the bike last year, the tie downs left some unfavorable looking marks on the dipped fork.
So crash bar, front turn signals and forks are being powder coated, and figured since the forks...
What gives? Out of all of the bikes I’ve owned over the years. New and old. I cant keep the dust off of this paint, its like its statically charged. Even my California duster just pushes the dust around and wont lift it. I’m fearing the god awful swirl marks from the dust scratching it. Anyone...
Spent the weekend masking and painting the details. Need to wet sand again, touch up some orange and silver spots, re-clear, then wet sand and buff. Slow going with my day job and children consuming most of my weekdays/nights, but a couple of more weekends and she’ll be ready to go back together.
Has anyone here had a whole bike wrapped? I'm trying to get a rough idea on cost. I love my bike, but I get bored with colors easily. Olive Gold isn't common, so I don't think I want to paint it.
I'm going to do a single color, nothing crazy. I'm definitely not going to tackle it myself...
