Glad this thread went up. My dad came down the other day and we put his mustang on my lift and put on his new exhaust and did an oil change. To show his gratitude he gave me a V&H FP3.

I already ordered the AC and slip ons. Was hoping to put catless headers on for heat reduction.

Just looked at my H-D contract and will have to wait 4 years before I can use any of it. Didn’t realize I did the ESP.

Jeremy (Gulf Tango), you may already know this but you can get your money back on the ESP prorated from when it started to when you cancel. I considered doing this because I wanted to do some mods that would have voided my ESP. I'd just purchased one for four years. For now I've decided to keep the ESP and modify my mods! Was going to go with a V&H or some other tuner but have the H-D Street Tuner and am about to pull the trigger on the Smart Tune after a bit more research "just" to be sure.

Is my understanding , when I I traded the 08 RG on the 11 , I got over 1200 of 1800 back , had clear title , if the bike is financed and not paid off , then it's considered part of the note . Is what I was told anyways . I could be wrong and they could have lied to me ..

Is this a new thing? I was going to cancel it on my last bike and when I asked about it the finance gut said nothing about not being able to since I had a note on it.
you can still cancel it, you just won't get the refund. the bank (or lienholder) will. so indirectly, you're still getting the money, your bike will just be paid for sooner. just don't expect to use that money, right now, for some other mods.

Sorry I wasn't thinking that way when I first read you statement. This is correct.

Loaded may be a true statement but not in the monetary sense. >:)

New to this so just trying to understand. So if I get my mods done through the dealer my warranty will be fine? I'm assuming this only applies to aftermarket mods.

Not so. What I heard.... Your dealership may do illegal mods and even warranty them. If you're out on the road and need work done at an other dealership, all bets are off. All mods must be epa compliant to maintain warranty on the drive train.

I'll toss in another scenario. I pay for my ESP separate instead of rolling it into the loan. If I cancel, I get the refund. That happened when I traded my '11 on the '15. I had bought the ESP separate and when I cancelled it, I got a check back.

Me neither and that's why I brought it up here to see if anyone else has any other information to either validate this could happen or if there is no way they do this sort of thing in FL. Could it be just bikes?
Ken we haven't had emissions testing in florida in ages, I would be surprised if that were true. My guess is, like someone else already mentioned, maybe the cop was testing noise level and the story just got changed down the line.

Well I've been on roadglide.org , this forum for about 1 year and I have a terrible tendency to never pay attention or overlook threads that may be related to me, but sure enough this one about the VH FP3 pack is.

Found out today after my 18' M8 scoot has been having issues. So, Mike, the service manager, from harley dealer up here, mentions that, if they put your bike on a scanner and is flagged with an aftermarket tuner, your HD warranty and ESP will be voided.

Now, original warranty when you buy your bike new is, the engine/transmission section- that's to say you may still be eligible for warranty on other area as: (CAN-BUS), ABS, Radio Diagnostics, Lighting,Battery and Accessories.

Now, here's where they get you-you may incur say,for example a 'low idle temperature sensor', however, its not as clean cut as it sounds, if the dealer calls up harley headquarters or something, and they find out that the low idle temp sensor, does not fall under the category of 'SENSOR'....it may have a sub heading, where since this is connected to the ECM, and that this particular sensor monitors the low idling of the engine, therefore this sensor may not be covered and will not be classified as just a sensor, but rather under engine/transmission.

Does that make sense?
So, the service manager says, you could have reset your tuner to default and chances are your warranty would not have been voided.

Then he says, I'm surprised your taking it so well,lol...what am I suppose to do, flip out and lose it. I put on the FP3 myself, along with my 14'inch apes, and tormentor RCX headers and TAB mufflers with zombie baffles and aftermarket precision billet footboards.

If I had known, I should say, I never would have installed a FP3 Vance and Hynes auto tune. I mean you buy a $30,000 motorcycle and you void the warranty with a $300 gadget is stupid to me, however, again no one told me.

He did insist that if I put on a Harley tuner with a screamin eagle kit, your warranty would not have been voided, now I know why people put on screamin eagle kits on brand new bikes, its for the warranty. Lets face it, nothing sounds good or is as tempting like the endless amount of aftermarket mufflers to choose from and where you can add a nice set of straight pipes, its just not the same. You grow addicted to that sound. And rightfully so!!!!

So, at that this point, I was incurring all types of problems by washing the inner fairing with a regular garden hose and blowing out my $300 HERTZ speakers and tweeters and drenching my ARLEN NESS aftermarket air cleaner. I mean, all I was doing was washing my bike, talk about bad luck following you around. I'm ready to just jump off a bridge and throw my $30,000 bike with it, because I cant stress over this bullshit anymore.

It makes you wonder..why me?. why in the 'FU&K ME'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have had it!!!!

oh did i mention, I bought this bike brand new last year in 2018 with 50 miles, and I have a total of 2,000 miles on it presently!

SO tired of this shit!

If your ECM were malfunctioning...................... Or completely dead.......................

If your ECM had to be replaced for some valid reason.........................

You might need a new ECM with an EPA approved tuner........................

And they do go bad sometimes. There are three 2018 RGS in our stable and one of those three did have a faulty ECM at about 6K miles.
