Seriously, if you don't do any touring, why have a touring scoot? If all I did was ride around town I'd probably have a Dyna.

Lol. I do take it on some long rides as well, but the majority of my riding is between 60 to 80 miles per ride.

I have a 93 FXLR as well as my 12 RG,the low rider only gets ridden maybe 2-3 times a year now,it currently has 73,000 miles on (have had it since new) at 62 i like my creature comforts no matter if i'm going 2 miles or 200,i find my RG very easy to handle around town,and yes your crazy.

I've never understood this, My 15 road R.G. handles as well as just about anything I've owned in the past 50 years. You should ride what you want, you don't need to justify it. I could make the argument that a R.G. is better for around town because of the bags and fairing boxes , radio, etc. There isn't but about 100 lbs. or less in wght. between the 2 bikes and a passenger will be a lot happier on the R.G. Having said that, it's your bike, you should have the one you want.

I tend to agree with 1stglider. My guess as to what a dealer will offer....$14 k to $15k or less on a trade.

idk, but, way back in the day, a , long haired bearded fella told me, "If Ur Only Gonna Have 1 (Motorcycle) ,it should be one you can get on, go from Here (where-ever you mite live) to California and back (i'm in O-Hi-O) and be in Comfort!
Now , depending on Prioritys, in my book, thats a Touring Machine.
We were standing out in his drive-way @ the time he stated this to me sitting on our Electra - Glides,drinking a Ice -Cold Bud-Wiper, then he opened his Garage door...
He had a Bad Ass Pan-Head Chopper up in there!!!
So, I guess he was speaking from x-perience.
We are both bout 30 years younger now, and the Dude still has that Chopper and a 2007 or 08 FLHT.

I think you're crazy, but we're all entitled to our own opinion. If you do decide to trade, make the bike as stock as possible, the dealer won't give you much for your extras, but they will make a profit from them.

In my honest opinion, I'll never go back to a soft tail, dyna, or cafe bike. Fell in love with my 05 RG. Now that I have the 13 I plan on keeping it for a long time.

I've been considering a smaller more simple bike, but as a second. And the reason isn't because of handling or any of that. Where i work is very dusty, lots of trucks rolling around and a gravel lot next door. Anyway, a smaller more simple bike would be easier to clean, I have to wipe mine down every single day i ride it to work and the RGU is not easy to clean at all. If I am able to do it next year during bonus time, it will be an older model due to finanaces.
I love the looks of the FatBob though.

I ride a RG and the wife has a Fat Boy . I like to ride the Fat Boy now and again . . The Fat Boy may be fun for a little bit but it's no Road Glide.

I had a Fat Bob before the RG - Great bike solo, but 2up not so much. If your riding solo riding and less than 300 miles a day, then the FB would work. No way in *ell I would ever go back to dyna even if I was solo, just too many creature comforts on the touring bikes.

I've had all kinds of bikes ranging from SportBikes, drag cruisers, bobbers. And I love my RG. I don't think I'll ever go back. I love all the creature comforts it offers.

Same here. I'm 68 and have an '87 FXR with close to 100K on it. It looks good and it's fast. It also beats the snot out of me. I ride it but much prefer the RG, even around town. The FXR is more nimble, but I pay for it. Can't believe I used to tour on that thing.

I have a candy orange 2013 fltrx. Best bike ever owned. I make the comparison to a BMW 540 wagon. Big, fast, luxurious, and I can carry all the shizz I want. I've never washed mine more than a rinse, because she's not a trailer queen. Do what is best for you, but regret is the worst thing in the world. You have the best color (I might be biased, lol) and best year for this machine in my opinion. If I were in your shoes, I'd find the funds to buy an older dyna and keep both bikes. So why not keep the glide and find a good used metric bike for your short hops? The Honda Grom looks fun, a Duke, older VFR, SV650, 954RR.. There is a host of used stuff that you can get for under 4k that are light, nimble, and comfortable for those under 100 mile jaunts. When your ready to kick back in style, grab the RG

Before getting my '13 RGC I had a Fat Bob. Liked it, but it really wasn't suitable for the longer trips. Not that I do that many long trips but it seems every year I'm getting more long rides in.

So, in any given week most of my riding is my county of residence and the adjoining counties. My favorite time to ride is after dinner in nice weather when traffic has died down and I still have several hours of daylight. And I do not feel disadvantaged at all by scooting around the suburbs, maybe making a stop or two, maybe grabbing a beer at an outside dining place, and getting on and off my RG numerous times. I love my RG and I don't miss my Fat Bob at all. I can only have one bike so it must "do it all" and the RG fits that bill much better than my Fat Bob could have.

Besides, now that I can have my music while I ride I'm addicted to it.

A young guy i work with has a Honda Grom top speed is 55 mph and its about the size of my saddle bag lol,it just looks funny as hell sitting next to my RG sitting in the parking lot.I tell him that i should put it in my saddle bag so incase i run out of gas i wont have to walk.
