and final outcome is cleaner and louder at same volume setting.. 12 clicks up from mute, about in my opinion where this oem radio starts to clip

yeah man, Ive got a quiet slip on and its pretty much just wind noise drowning my oem system. If I put my touring windshield on its great but anything else I was struggling to hear it..bad hearing I suppose :)
Only regret I have is I didnt buy upgrade headlamp bulbs while I was it LOL
But thanks again to all you guys, no hesitation to take this nose off anymore especially when I do the bars...its a sickness I tell you
nice bars by the way...just saw your pic
yes its the hawg wired base kit (direct connect) with 5 1/4" speakers. Didnt use the 5/14" speakers. The reason I went with this is because its a round package that I can possibly sell to someone else more easily when I decide to move on to multiple channel when I do lowers. It sounds great for what it is. The headunit is definitely the weak link in my opinion. A $150 Alpine, etc. would really wake it up but I like the stealth look to it. I do have a Cleansweep made by JL Audio thats still in the box Ive never got to use. That will wake this oem headunit up also. Dynamat and weatherstripping the speakers to separate front sound waves from the rear cone is just a force of habit :) from my car audio hobby back in the day. Guess thats the benifit of doing your own stuff, wasnt a hassle but more fun. Feeling that flimsy front nose is almost sacriligious not to put some in LOL. Didnt do before and after, just wanted her buttoned up again. I aint skeered no more about that front! O yeah the enclosure it the key to getting low response, anything you can do will help. A happy speaker will be a good sounding speaker

Aw man... had nightmares about that fairing after I bought the bike..handlebars, stereo everything points back to that fairing bawhahaha
youre right with the roadglide.org fearless behind me or should I say in front of me...no sweat next time around. NO expert but when I use to do local soundoffs back in the day when it was sound quality (RTA) and not db drags like now:) Alpine was the weapon of choice and any american made amp and german speakers were the ticket. But motorcycles is new to me and just learning brands/models for marine use. Ive talked to my buddy that runs a shop and he said that most/all of your speakers are somewhat better made now. Its the sun/mildew that kills speakers..hence the marine speakers for the boat. Hardly any defnition to this oem headunit in my humble opinon like most oem headunits. I have a Harmon Kardon in my M3 and same dilemna. I think Ill utilize the Cleansweep first since Ive bought it a few years ago and pair it up with a nice multiple channel amp for a winter project. Im trying to keep the oem look but sounds good, the wow factor..because MOCO deserves better LOL

will do! I ran a Rockford punch amp before, raw power.. good to see what they come with. More choices the better! Good find
Now were talkin! :D did I mention.. Glad to have you
onboard LOL
10/4 on the cleansweep bought originally for the HK in my M, def. Overkill thought maybe I can boost voltage or so in bike. Gonna have to catch up later, this iPhone ain't happenin man hehe
but def. Interested in your knowledge, thanks again
awesome build, too much fun:)
Good find T, I'll check out site when I get home. Nice setup you have, you're onto something. I got the base hawgwired kit but eventually move to an alpine pdx amps. I've run the 6.5 kicker midbass speakers before in my car and the excursion on those speakers are incredible. I remember the dimension depth being fairly large though. I was contemplating on loosing one of my glovebox anyways and seal it shut. They don't lock and I keep a few wires, cigs and that's about it. This way I could route a big hole in it and put a nice free air in one side. Anycase Toby is very knowledgeable and I'd like to know his take on your ideas also.
thanks for the info Toby, yes I remember those shakers you would bolt them under your seat since bass is nondirectional its more or less felt in the cabin of a car. I can confirm on the capacity of those lil kickers. We used to have them in our doors running full range and throw bass cds in just for kicks and watch those throw:D I hear you about the midbass..Ive always appreciated my door hitting hard with snare drums, toms, etc.. with midbass rather the trunk shakin with non musical instruments, except for maybe synthesizers. Ive always used the subs for just fill. Im definitely excited about doing something with this kicker 6.5 and run it low, it would probably roll off on its own at around 50 hertz anycase right. Maybe cross them over 200 hz on down. I was looking into the alpine pdx amps, but still getting educated on motorcycle audio...correct me if Im wrong but dont you have to double your power per every 3 dbs gained once youre at certain level/loudness..thanks again
