:D:eek::confused::rolleyes: AFTER LOSING SLEEP OVER WHICH AFTERMARKET WINDSHIELD TO TRY NEXT ON MY 15 RGS FOR MANY DAYS NOW, I WENT AGAINST MY GUT AND DECIDED TO GO WITH THE ADVICE FROM MANY OF YOU ON THIS FORUM. TWO DAYS AGO THERE WAS NO [email protected]#*ING WAY I WAS PUTTING A MADSTAD ON MY BIKE BECAUSE I WAS SOOOO WORRIED ABOUT HOW BAD IT WOULD LOOK AND I READ SEVERAL POSTS FROM OTHER MEMBERS WHO FELT THE SAME WAY. AFTER SLEEPING ON IT ( OR NOT SLEEPING I SHOULD SAY) AND REALIZING HOW MANY FOOLISH HUNDREDS I HAVE ALREADY SPENT, I DECIDED TO TAKE THE ADVICE OF THE MANY FELLOW HARLEY RIDERS ON THIS SITE WHO SWEAR BY MADSTAD AND PURCHASE ONE. I COULD NOT DECIDE BETWEEN THE 11" AND THE 13" SO AS USUAL I COMPLICATED THINGS AND ORDERED A CUSTOM SIZED 12" DARK GREY WHICH MIGHT HAVE BEEN A DUMB MOVE BECAUSE CUSTOM SIZES CANT B RETURNED BUT IM 5"91/2 AND IT SEEMS LIKE THAT WOULD BE THE PERFECT SIZE FOR ME, AND MY PASSENGER WONT SUFFER BECAUSE I'LL B ABLE RAISE IT UP HIGH ENOUGH FOR BOTH OF US. (I HOPE MY THOUGHT PROCESS WAS CORRECT ON THAT ISSUE, FEEL FREE TO COMMENT ON THAT !!!) ANYWAY THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO HELPED AND THANKS TO ALL OF YOU WHO TRIED TO HELP. YOUR INPUT IS GREATLY APPRECIATED. I HOPE IM STILL THANKING YOU GUYS AFTER IT IS DELIVERED AND INSTALLED :D:D:D LOL-- I"LL TRY TO POST SOME PICS AND REVIEW IT WHEN IT COMES IN

I'm not real sue why, but to me, the madstad's don't look as bad on the 15's. They seem to flow better or something.

Good luck with your choice. Hopefully you can get past the looks.

Just like anything, beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

Personally, I wasn't too keen on the Madstad when I first saw it. I had already replaced the stock shield with a 12" Klock Werks that I thought looked good.

After going back & forth I ordered a Madstad - 16" dark gray. That was a little over 3 years ago.

Almost 50,000 miles later I absolutely love the thing. The performance is hands-down the best. And I actually like the looks of it too.

What it all comes down to is this: do you consider form or function to be more important? No right or wrong answer, as it's your preference.

For me it delivers form & function!

To Johnnya, PLEASE STOP YELLING!! Thank you. About the Madstad, I don't feel that the unique engineering (and therefore, benefits) that the Madstad provides will be needed on the 2015's due to the new fairing vent system. The "buffeting" problem has been solved with the addition of the three vents that equalize the pressure, and that is what the Madstad provided on the previous design bikes. Of course, you could still get it just for the looks ?

Sorry x ring. That better? LOL. iM Not really yelling LOL. Im Just a horrible typist that figures that by making one big obvious typing mistake it will hide hundreds of little ones and save me the time to fix them. LOL. I have been meaning to buy one of those speech recognition setups like I have at my office but I usually spend most of my extra money on my Harleys, the kids somehow end up with the rest . hard to teach an old dog with arthritic fingers and bad typing skills new tricks but I will give it a try for you.

I'm so close to buying a Madstad, if for nothing else, just to try it out. There have been a few for sale on here in the past couple of months, but I seem to just miss them. Maybe I'll decide to cough up $300 before SW5, I don't know.

The 12" should be good enough as far as height. I'm 6'2" and run a 14.5 and majority of the time riding 2up with The boss behind me. It WILL meet your expectations. Just keep experimenting and get it dialed in right. And as far as the 15's go, I can't speak personally, but I've read NUMEROUS accounts as to how the "improvements" to the fairing and vent designs do little to nothing to improve the head buffeting that is the main complaint about touring bikes. Everyone's different of course, just going by what I've read. Hope it works out for you!
