It's a known fact the Harley's have issues with the neutral switch on the clutch reservoir which I'm having replaced tomorrow at the dealership.
This morning it wouldn't start in gear again, but this time I noticed something a little different. If the bike is running and you turn off the bike with the stop/start switch, leave the ignition switch on, it won't start when the clutch is pulled in. But if you cycle the ignition switch, pull the clutch in and then try to start it in gear it will start.

Anyone else seen this, I'm on a 2017 RG Special.

I’m having similar issues with my 17 RGS. It is sporadic though. It doesn’t start in gear maybe 1/5 times. I normally start in N so it hasn’t been a big deal. I’m coming up on 5000 miles and will bring it up at Harley when I take it for service.

Had the same issue twice on my 2017 RG Ultra. Dealer fixed it under warranty both times. The most recent was a new switch and a new clutch lever the dealer said is re-designed for better contact on the switch. So far so good, but it's only been a month.
