Sorry for this guys, but...damn.

I'm about ready for a new front tire, so I'm exploring my options. Why do the dealers, specifically my local dealer, Alef's HD in Wichita make it so difficult to do business with them?

I'm running a Mich Commander II 120/70-21. I can buy it online from several different sources for about $155 shipped.

I just tried to give the dealer the benefit of the doubt and give them a shot at it. If they could come anywhere close on price, I'd give them my business. I just got off the phone with the parts guy. He says he can order me one for $260! I said, 'Yikes.. I can beat that price by $100 online". He says, "Yeah, but we're running a special right now where we'll mount it for only $49.95".

How in the world does that make any sense? Well, I guess Amazon.com and a local indy will be getting my business again.

I get my tires at the local Kawasaki dealer in town. The tires run around $150 +/- each and they mount and balance them for $25 a tire if I just take in the wheel, if I take the bike to them they charge $50 a wheel. They are way cheaper than the HD dealer is for the same tires.

I told my dealer here what I could buy a Mich Com II rear tire for (on my 2010) and what that a local Indy would only charge $25 to mount and balance it if I brought it to them and he matched their price. His initial quote was so high on just the tire I thought there was no way he would come down that far be he did. I have to say that my dealer does try really hard to compete.

That's highway robbery. My dealer mounts and balances a carry in for $35. I wonder if he ment drive in tire change ?
My indy charges $20 to just mount.
