So I was looking at the past threads and the general consensus is that a oil cooler is a good thing, the Jagg or the Ultracool is better than the HD.
I like the HD. I like everything Harley except the electric crotch rocket; and yes, I am incredibly biased. Never heard of Ultracool until a few days back. Heard of the Jagg. But these darn things cost like crazy. Anybody have a solution that does not pinch the wallet so much? My Stratoliner had a factory oil cooler that looked like a piece of heater core on the front-lower region of the bike's frame. All of these look better than that.

I bought a Ultracool last night on eBay for $337 from American Classic Motors in PA. My oil temps get too stinking hot with the motor work I did. This trip to SW4 made me realize I need to stop putting it off. Direct Cycle Parts normally has the low prices, but not in this case.

The one item I really like about the Ultracool is the braided oil lines. All the others I have seen just use rubber.

Forget the 400 oil cooler fan. Look up BigSky. They work as well as any fan will on the oil cooler . None work magic but if you want a fan on the oil coller look it up.
Get it through your head HD's do not have oil cooled heads no madder how much you cool the oil it will do little to control engine heat. It can extend oil protection. Cooling by air will only reduce temps to a point then no madder how much air you supply it will get no lower.

Issue 312 AIM

Check out that issue, Donny Petersen, writes about the Jagg and HD oil coolers. In it he talks about how they cool the oil, pressure drop and mounting 2 for high compression motors.

Big sky fans and a NOS harley cooler or 10 row jag... OR bite the bullet for the ultra cool. Either way keeping the oil temp under 250* is ABSOLUTELY IMPERATIVE for oil, lifter and engine componet happiness over the long haul.

Don't forget the wardspartswerks 160* thermostat. Proven to lower oil temps and cool better.

A Wards parts werks set of fans for the heads would ALSO be a great addition.:D

When I was asking my Tech at the Dealer (the only one that works on all of my bikes) about the Jaggs cooler with the fans, he kind of talked me out of the Jaggs, he said something about turning an oil change into a two man job...

I didn't ask him what time period he had the experiences with the Jaggs (to give Jaggs the benefit of the doubt, they might have been earlier models and any problems may have been solved ~ I don't know, I'm just not trying to be negative about any products that I have no direct experience with.)

But I did order the Big Sky Fans last week, and will probably give the Ward's Thermostat a try...

FWIW; the Big Sky Fans has been the most recommended by folks that ride good miles and have tried a lot of the products of this nature.
