Found out the stock audio system was pretty much useless at freeway speeds. Over the Thanksgiving weekend I wrote J&M asking what they recommended for my 2013 RG – Custom which I pretty much wanted to leave stock but just bump up in power with speakers to match. Throughout the weekend (Sat., Sun and even evenings) John answered (I later find out he WAS the “J” in J&M) every one of my questions and even gave me options on different systems.

Between reading the reviews from other forums and here in the Audio and J&M sections I went “shopping” for the system John recommended which was the 250W Amp JAMP-250HR06P and 7.25” Rokker speakers HRRK-7252-RXX. I found them at a lower price that even with the 20% off Black Friday/Cyber Monday J&M could offer. This ended up being a lower price for the better system than what the lower priced system would have been. I asked John if he could price match it and who the vendor was but he couldn’t. John tells me they are long time reputable vendor of theirs and if I found a system at that price he would jump on it, so I did.

The system arrived and was truly plug and play. J&M included everything for the install. Sound was as advertised… with the volume up full there was NO distortion BUT the sound wasn’t in my opinion as “crisp or sharp as I would have expected. I write John again of my findings that I see they make a set of speaker grills that include tweeters that give more mid-range for my speakers and would this give me what I might be expecting. John tells me he forgot to mention these as part of the total package and will comp a set of HRRK-GRTM’s. I totally didn’t expect that at all.

I figure the least I could do was put in ANOTHER plug for the great advice and customer service from J&M.

I am another Happy! Happy! Happy! J&M customer!

Install preamp outs on the HK if you want really crisp.
The preamp outs bypass the amplifier section of the HK which has always sounded 'muddy' to me.

Just an update.

I just installed the HRRK-GRTM grills with the built-in high-output tweeters & midrange drivers. That WAS the missing link. I don't know about it sounding "muddy" but the crispness is now there. What better time to test other than now during the Christmas season when they are playing music with full orchestra's and being able to hear all the instruments.

Again... thank you John!

Good to hear you are happy! I rode with that combination for several years until last year when I added the j&m speaker lids. I then upgraded to the 500w amp.

Really like the new speaker lids! Keep them in mind for your next upgrade :)
