I know there is a least one per here on Road Glide.org that raved about them but I can't remember who. I'm thinking of having them do their thing to my CVO's Le Pera Maverick in the off-season but thought I'd get a thread going here to see if anyone has already tried them and what their opinions are. So if you've had them redo your seat, please chime in!

For those that have not heard of them, here is their website and what they do: The Technology | Astech Seats

One of those people was me, and another was Shrug. I had an Astech modded seat on our '11 Ultra and was very happy with it, so much so that the seat off our '15 CVO is probably going to them as soon as the weather turns sour on us.
I did the gel and memory foam mods on that seat which very close to doubled the ride time between stops for us.

After alot of research, I brought my seat out to them and they reworked the seat as I waited. They were professional and knowledgeable and their work was great. The seat was fitted with a gel insert and memory foam. On my FLTRX i'm not sure it's an Iron butt seat but it is definitely better than stock.

i had them do my Mustang touring seat out in Sturgis while I waited (3 hours). They hollow out your old foam, insert a spring gel base layer, then layer memory foam layers of different desitity based on your weight.

On my return trip from Sturgis to New York, I was knocking out 600-700 mile days without using the Airhawk pad that I needed on the trip out there.

My first post on this forum, although I have been getting a lot of info from here. Time to pay some of it back.

I sent my seat (2013 Ultra) to them earlier this summer as my wife could not bear the stock seat. I had them move me back 2 inches (6'2" with 34" inseam) by eliminating the back rest slot. Had the passenger seat widened and lengthened 1". The seat looks stock, however it feels amazing. Just returned from a 2 week, 4100 mile vacation trip last week, and the only thing better than their customer service is the modification to the seat! We had several 8 -10 hour days, 600 miles was the longest day, and not once did I hear a complaint.

Best money I have ever invested on a motorcycle.

They take your weight and inseam, and custom the seat. If you have a regular passenger, make sure you get both seats modified.

It might have been me!

I had them modify the seat on my old Heritage at Ohio Bike week about 7 years ago. The next year they were there again. I went over and said hello. They asked how I liked my seat. I told them it was much better than stock, but not perfect. They asked if I had the bike with me, when I answered yes they told me to go get it. After quizzing me about what was still not perfect they proceeded to redo my seat for free.

That is customer service!

It wasn't me who said it... But I love my seat now with gel and memory foam from them. I had to struggle riding threw a tank of gas and would be the first one off the bike when stopped. Now seat time is not an issue.

I did send it back to get reworked once.. And their customer service was great.

I never did thank everyone for their input on this question. Once the riding season ends for me I find myself not coming here very often. But I came back a few days ago and did a search for this thread and after re-reading everyone's very positive replies, I pulled the trigger on getting my seat off to Astech. So I'll update here as well as do a full review once I get the seat back and get some time in it. Thanks again to all!

Sent my Corbin solo to them last Friday. The cover was worn completely through on a spot in the butt area. They were the only repair shop I could find willing to work on a Corbin seat

Good to know. You'll probably get yours back first - let us know how it goes.

Are you getting their mod done or just recovered?

Old Nerd Guy took his over there earlier this week and had his reworked while he waited. I haven't heard the results yet but I know he's been out riding this week. Maybe he'll see this thread and check in. I think from what he and others have said I'm gonna give them a try. The seat on my '16 sucks big time :surprise:

Got it done and it feels good. The problem I have regarding evaluation is this. I have been off the bike for a couple of months, broken shoulder. I got back on, but for very short rides. I really cannot give you a before/after evaluation because of the weeks between. It feels good, but even the old foam did after less than an hour ride.

What TDKKart mentioned in a FB posting was this. You don't really feel the difference until you ride for several hours, get off the bike and realize your ass is not as sore as it used to get. That I will notice, once I get back to full strength riding. The Mustang foam ran out of support after only a few hours.

They are doing their mod to it and replacing the cover. It has a custom stitch pattern they said would be no problem to replicate. Guess I'll find out how that went in a couple weeks. I was comfortable on the stock seat but the thigh area was so wide it was annoying putting your feet down repeatedly in stop and go traffic

Got a call from ASTech today confirming they received the seat and what I wanted done. I ended up canceling the thigh re-shape as it was a $40 up-charge. My thighs can get a little tender when my weight is up (which it currently is) but I'm hoping to continue to slim down some. There is also a $40 up-charge for the seat being a LePera. Not sure why but if I had to guess it's likely due to how very well-built the LePera seats are and the extra time and money it takes to take them apart (remove the cloth heat shield material, remove the rivets) and then of course to put them back together in the same manner.

This will be a very good test for just how good the ASTech seat mods really are. The LePera was already quite comfortable and provided great support. But after about an hour or two in the saddle I would start to get a little discomfort in the 'sit-bone' area that would only get worse and even with breaks it would get into that diminishing returns situation where even with shorter times in saddle and longer breaks the discomfort would increase. It was never as bad as with any other seat but if the ASTech mod can improve those times significantly then we'll be happy campers. We are not long distance riders anyway and a four or five hour day in the saddle is a long day for us regardless of how comfortable the seat is. But if it's just my whole body saying no mas after four hours and not my butt after 2 or 3, then I'll be very happy with the price I'm paying.

Monica said the seat should be done in a few days so I expect to have it back early next week. We just got a fresh 5 inches of snow last night (after an incredibly mild winter) so there is no hurry anyway. I did ride for over an hour a week or so back on a rogue 75 degree March day and could feel the area of tenderness begin to kick in a little bit so I'm fully ready to test out the seat when it gets here and we get another good day. Rest assured, the review will be prompt, detailed and fair!

Got the seat back and have done an initial test. Results posted in a separate thread that can found here:

ASTech modified LePera Maverick - detailed review

A short summary would be, expensive mod, very different feeling than before, does increase saddle time by eliminating or at least greatly reducing butt discomfort.
