Just curious if anyone runs a stock style tall shield? Obviously the stock 2010 shield is a bad joke from HD. Not even being able to ride like that from the horrible wind noise, my brother lent me his stock 07 shield to try and I like it.

I see everyone talk about the wind that comes over the shield, that "makes your goggles lift". But my experience was NO wind over the shield, but lots of wind shooting up from under the fairing around the gas tank, which DID directly shoot into my face and lifted my goggles.

That issue was solved by adding on the wind deflector that bolts to the lower triple tree. It comes stock on some years, but not on my 2010. As soon as I added that on, almost ALL the upward air stream around the tank was gone. Now I have a shield that I like that looks good, no air flow issues, and I didn't have to buy a new shield.

Just curious on everyone's thoughts.

Being that Im 6'3" I needed a taller windshield then the stock one that came on my 08'. Im running the Clearview +2 and wish it was another inch taller when I have to ride with a helmet

Personally when it warms back up for local riding ill put the little trim piece back on that came from the 010 factory. Its a motorcycle, I like the wind in my face and dont really think its that bad, especially comin from a non shielded/fairinged bike. For trips definately stickin w/ the 12"KW.

What's this 'wind deflector' that you bolt to the triple-tree? Got a part number or picture? Info please...
Harley calls it a air baffle # 58520-79a ( 3 bolts and washers needed bolt# 3892 & washer #6703 ) Its bolted to the lower triple tree and forces the air downward onto the motor when your riding.

Type in Ebay search " air baffle ", there are plenty for sale

I use the KW 12" for around town riding, but the radio pretty much is useless.
I use the HD tall RG windshield (the one that looks like a sail) if I'm doing a tour pack required road trip. Nice quiet pocket, and I can easily hear all 4 speakers.
I threw the stock black piece away.

If you ride all the way down to Key West, I suggest a place to go to that the locals like. Its called the HogFish bar and grill on Stock Island just outside of Key West. Good food and cold drinks. I was there in November when I rode down to the Keys and had a good time there

Thank, I really appreciate that. We made a quick trip to the keys last year between Christmas and New Years and it was so crowded that we really didn't experience much of the local flavor. Hope to see more this trip.

Hay Thanks Man! Custom Striping was done by Joe Biancke. He put some Silver Leaf in the Bags, Tank and Front Fender.A little on the Fairing, and so forth. Hes a Old Timer, but a Good One.Its hard to describe to a Painter,Pinstriper x-actly what you want.I appreciate the comment though. If you can get close enough, you can see where he signed his work on my Fairing. The Silver Leaf work is getting to be a Lost Art! Ya just don't see it that much anymore.I can double click on these pics and it brings it in a little closer.

That is great looking pinstriping! Looks like it matches the stock blue really well. I've been kicking around a few schemes like that in my mind and now you've got me stoked up to do something soon. I have a couple of pinstripers that were at the Harley Museum Christmas Party this year and were custom pin striping 5" round Harley glass Christmas ornaments for literally hundreds of customers at $8 a pop.

Would you mind telling me how many hours he put into that job and if you would approximately what you paid for it?

I really don't know what to expect.

I think Joe had the Bike for 3 or 4 days. Once the Silver Leaf was put on he had to spray a thin coat of clear over that. I dropped it off to him on a Monday and picked it up on Friday or Saturday. I paid him $500.00. I love the Road Glide... But I wouldn't be caught without the Taller Windsheild! I've also put a Hawg-Wired DbleShot. Pkge up underneath the Fairing.Makes them Tunes Crystal Clear! And the Wheels are RC Components "NITRO" 200mm tire 17-6.25 and 21-3.5 up front.Later Bro.
