It's time to lose the USB cable. I have an android phone and was wondering if anyone is using Ottocast, what version, and the results. Thanks.

I tried Ottocast without success. I want to say it tried to load once, but never actually worked. It works fine in the car, though. I think even the "Android" versions just translate to Car Play. I had a regular one (U2-Air) and I have the Play2Video version that I use to play videos (for the kids) and for Android Auto in the car. Both go into a CarPlay interface then run AA on top of that. If you have one of the Apple CarPlay jumpers on your bike then they'll work properly, but if you only want Android Auto then there's no point.

The Motorola MA1 works very well if you want the sound to just go through the bike's speakers.

If you want to be able to send the sound to a wireless headset then the AAWireless box is the ticket.

Both are available on Amazon.

Hey Z....My 2020 RGS has car play on it, will the MA1 still work on it? Says it works with Android Auto "capable" systems. Thanks.

Sorry I'm not sure if I understand. I thought you were saying you've been using wired AA and want to switch to wireless AA. If that's the case then the MA1 will work.

If you have Carplay working on your bike already then the Ottocast ones will work as well.

Z - I have a factory set up, and I'm done with the tethered phone. I used to run an iPhone, and Car Play would pop up once I plugged in the iPhone. I went to the dark side and now run an Android phone- so was wondering if using MA1 with Android if Android Auto would work.

inkdemon- Thanks for the post. Leaning towards MA1. If there's something better out there, please advise....

When you plug your Android phone in, does Android auto run on your bike? It should. If so then the MA1 will work.

I say wired Android auto should already work because it will on a stock bike, but I don't know what modifications have been made to your bike. For example Carplay won't run on a completely stock RGS, so something has been added to enable it on your bike (eg. Carplay jumper).

The MA1 will only give you audio through the speakers. If there's any chance that you'll ever want to send the audio anywhere else (like a Bluetooth headset or Bluetooth speaker) then for the same price you can get the AAwireless box instead. It gives you the option of playing audio through the speakers or through a Bluetooth device instead.

Those are both good options if you know that wired Android Auto already works on your bike.

The MA1 works great. Once paired up every time you start the bike it will open up AA.

Android Auto Boxes
Whichever you want to get, the first step is to confirm that (1) wired Android Auto works on your bike; (2) your phone is capable of wireless Android Auto. If both of those are true then the wireless Android Auto boxes mentioned earlier will work.

Ottocast
Ottocast units can work if your bike has carplay enabled. Below is a video of someone using the Play2Video Ottocast box and his Android phone to play YouTube videos on his Carplay-enabled Boom Box screen (obviously only legal to do when parked). His bike has the Carplay dongle installed in the front fairing.
