I got a seat backrest. It seams to be to far forward. So I went back to dealer, and he said it was installed right. Anyone have any Ideas. I was thinking of maybe bending the tubes. I just don't know how.

Which one do you have? One of my buddies has the HD adjustable one and he bent the flat stock that goes into the receptacle a little bit so it moved the pad portion of the backrest back a bit. The metal stock is about 3/16" thick so I think he did his at work (a metal shop).

I bent mine back. I removed the cover and foam, figured out where I wanted the bend to start so it cleared the seat, heated it up with an oxy/ace torch with a small tip to keep the heat centralized. It bent fairly easy but I did have to get it cherry red.

Sissy bar or rider backrest?

Rider backrest. I have the fixed riders seat backrest. It has two bars about the size of rebar. I would like to bend them, but don't know how.

I would think that if you mount the backrest, put the bike in 1st gear (not running) and the sit in the seat and push back on it you may have some luck bending it....

backrest

Do you know that the bracket that bolts on the fender works assbackwards, the farther back it is mounted the more forward the backrest is and vise versa, the more forward you mount it the farther back the backrest is. (if it is the type with 3 sets of mounting holes).

How could that be. It comes straight up from the bracket. I ask at the dealer, and said it was back as far as it goes. It is pushing on the seat where it comes through.

Not much help I know, but that don't look right.

My Kuryakyn backrest mounting bar has a dogleg in it. You can flip it to go back/forward. Fine adjustments are done to the mounting bracket under the seat.

All fixed. My neighbor has a pipe bender 2 seconds later, all better.
It does leave a gap in the seat. It does work well.

Just installed one on my RGU. To much snow to ride it yet. I did move the holes that mount to the fend from what instructions showed. I am a bit on the lighter side.

backrest

Did you pull your seat? You shouldn't have had to bend anything. Need a picture of the fender mounted bracket. From your picture it looks like the bracket it mounted all the way toward the back of bike which pushes the backrest forward, need the bracket moved forward to move backrest back. It's all in the angles.
