Bought a saddlebag latch kit from bagger bags. Website stated black latches received chrome. No directions with kit. Lock assemblies did not work. Contacted owner derek z. Extremely unprofessional and did nothing for me. Cost me $180 for new locks and labor to re install the kit to make it functional. Requested refund to cover my out of pocket costs and derek z never answered emails. Kit is on bike but is far inferior to oem harley latches that come standard on 2014 later new saddlebags

Total garbage. Contacted BBB, after 5 weeks they did not make a ruling just closed the case administratively. They're a joke also

Doesn't look like the site is even accredited by the BBB. That's a red flag. With unaccredited businesses, the BBB has no leverage. The reason for administrative closing is usually that a business doesn't bother responding to the BBB about the complaint. BBB is an honor system program.

Hello, my name is Derek. And this is in response to the complaint above. Now, John is the name of the person who created this post. I dont have any records of someone with that name ever purchasing from me. I keep a record of every single customer who has ever purchased from Baggerbags and its automatically stored on file. Thats for starters. John did contact me asking how to place the latches, I sent him a video on how to install a set of 14-15 latches since they are all universal regardless if it was my video or not. He obviously didnt take that to kindly and started stating the the latches wasnt up to his standards and had to purchase extra parts to make it work. Now, I told him numerous times that i will gladly do the FULL refund of the cost of the products for his friend (Since hes the one that purchased it) but I would need my product back. He replied that he didnt want that, that he wanted a partial refund on parts that ran aroun d $180 dollars (Now, I never received a receipt showing the parts that he says is worth $180 so basically i could be paying for anything) Now, I told him that if he is not satisfied with the product then I will refund the product so he can purchase it elsewhere but he told me no, that he could not do that since he had already installed it and took to much of his time. Next thing I know, I get two emails stating that 2 separate claims have been filed to the BBB from John Park and his friend. The first complaint had under its resolution section (full refund or partial refund) and after we stated that we would do the partial refund he then created a new complaint stating that his only resolution would be a partial refund. Well, after responding to our BBB administrative about what has transpired. They closed the case. Now, Im not here to bash anyone just simply trying to tell both sides to the story. I offered numerous times to do a full refund but I would need the product back and he refused.

Bought the product for a friend Jesse J. for his street glide. Im sure Derek Z knows who I am talking about. He has skirted this issue both with me contacting him and Jesse J contacting him. I never inquired how to install a latch only inquired where the instructions for installation of this kit were. His response was to look at the picture attached to his website of the kit, instructions are not included, thought it was a big joke. Extremely arrogant with no concern for the customers needs. And yes he sent me a video of an arlen ness latch assembly which had nothing to do with the kit that was purchased. Cannot leave a review for the product on his website as all reviews are subject to approval by Derk Z.

As far as the return goes I requested an RMA autorization which MUST accompany the return as per his policy from Derek Z and got no response. Also stated that items could not be installed, which it was. When I had the issue with the locks I again contacted Derek Z and he said I installed them incorrectly, which they werent even installed yet. I than had the item installed by my INDY who ordered me oem harley locks. I than requested a partial refund only for the items purchased and labor to install the kit to make it work. Derek Z responded he would refund the the kit and nothing else so therefore I left the kit on the bike and only wanted reimbursement for out of pocket costs for parts and labor. He than again didnt answere emails. I than contacted BBB for assistance and they closed the case

Here is bagger bags retuen policy:
Return Policy
Periodically something will go wrong with a shipment and you may wish to return an item. We will do everything reasonable to satisfy you; please contact us via e-mail or phone to discuss the circumstances before returning any parts. Our customer service department ([email protected]) will issue a Return Authorization Number which MUST accompany any return in addition to a copy of your original Sales Receipt. Unauthorized returns will not receive credits, and will be returned to you. The order can be returned within 7 days of receipt, once the 7 days is passed there will be no refunds or returns. In certain cases we may accept a return after 7 days at our descretion in which a restocking fee will be incurred at an amount to be determined by us. Saddlebag kits must be returned complete, otherwise they will incur heavy restocking fees to be calculated by Bagger Bags at our descretion at the time of refund

I have posted on several other forums so lets really get the word out there. Its important for consumers to be aware especially when the company has no affiliation with BBB and the reviews for the items sold by the company are subject to the approval of the owner. Derek Z indicated he has sold many of these kits. If you check his website you will see there are no reviews submitted so I would assume nobody has been satisfied either.

I never had any dealings with either individual so I don't have a dog in this hunt BUT.
It' kind of weird that Derek joined the forum to post a rebuttal to JP's post. I would think if he was a stand up company he would protect his reputation by refunding the price of the product.
Also if JP wasn't happy with the product and it didn't work as advertised or as he wanted it too he would just return the entire product and get a full refund instead of buying parts to make it work and asking for a partial refund for the parts need to make the latches work.
JMO but if you modify the latches with parts other than what was shipped with the latches you kind of accepted the latches as is.

FYI - After receipt of items and finding no instructions, the wrong colored latches
I requested a refund. Last email requested an rma number as per their return policy. That email went unanswered no rma provided. Now over a week had passed and per their return policy no refunds after 7 days, how convenient. Now I have a $425 piece of junk and the owner of company doesn't respond to emails. So I attempt to install now finding the keys will not come out of the locks. I have my indy order me a set of oem locks and he installs the kit, cost $85 for parts $95 labor. So I again email derek z about locks and what I spent to get the kit working properly. He says locks were installed wrong. Well first of all the werent even installed just put keys in and turned them, second if no installation instructions were provided with the kit and when requested the instructions none were provided, so how can he say they were installed wrong. He says return the kit. I than request a total of $425 for the kit and my out of pocket expenses of $180. Derek Z responds that this is an unreasonable request. So I keep the kit on my bike so I'm not eating the other $180 I spent. I than request from Derek z partial refund of $180. He does not respond so I file a complaint with BBB. The deemed the case closed administratively due to the business refusing to make any offers.
So now please tell me what you would have done. Don't think my refund request of $180 was unreasonable for a reputable company. He never answered so he didn't request any itemized bill either. Derek Z is very arrogant and thought this whole thing was a joke from the beginning.

IN this particular instance I agree with Ironmark. I think you rushed after you didn't receive a response from the seller. A little more patience and it sounded like the seller was trying to make it right. The only way we would have known was if you would have waited a little longer. Being the items were the wrong color I can't imagine trying to make them work. Lesson learned I guess.

After not hearing back from him for over 7 days I attempted the install, rather than have a $425 dust collector. Bottom line is customer service was horrendous and not answering emails is no excuse. Plus I requested rma number for return that went unanswered, as per his policy otherwise no refund given, so than I'm out the kit and the $425.
Thanks for your opinion but put yourself in my situation, I don't think you would have waited for an email that wasn't coming. Guy thought the whole thing was a joke told me look at photo of kit, no directions included. He never touched on why I got chrome latches when the ad stated black but picture showed chrome. Total arrogance, not how I would have dealt with a customer, I guess you have no problem with it. Order from bagger bags if you dare !

Jp, I'm not saying they were right. I was just saying that in my opinion you rushed just a little bit after trying to remedy the problem. In most times when there are problems with buying online, it takes a while to solve problems. I know we all want what we ordered, but sometimes issues happen. Some maliciously and some by accident. Until the situation is fully vetted, you don't know which it is. It was obvious by what you said with contacting the BBB, that you got a response from the vender. You shouldn't have had to do that but it did work. You will never know if the vender would have completely solved your problem or not because of installing the product. We can all learn by your experience. Thanks for sharing.
