I had to jump start my bike (2009) today after work. I hade it on a tender all weekend and it sat at work for about 12 hours after a 20 mile commute (early morning about 75 mph most of the way) I got home to check the connections and I found the negative post covered with corrosion. I'm just curious what causes it and how to prevent it. This battery has been in the bike about a year and I hook it up to a tender at night. My last battery didn't have any corrosion when it was replaced.
Thanks for any help.

Can't explain why but after you take it apart to clean it all take a trip to your local auto parts store and pick up a battery spray. It will coat the terminal and help prevent the corrosion.
