Here's a few things I've learned & did today.

I replaced the double sided tape on the clamps with 1" 3M VHB (Very High Bond) 5952 indoor/outdoor double sided tape. Not counterfeit 3M VHB, but the real deal. Amazon is loaded with counterfeit shit. Check the manufacturer. I also had a sheet of thin black felt with sticky back I inserted on the paint side of the clamp. If anybody needs any felt "cubes", let me know and I'll get you 4 sent out. I have a whole 8X11 sheet I can cut up in 1" squares.

I also learned it takes 72 hours for 3M VHB tape to "cure". I never knew that. It's 50% strength at application, 90% at 24 hours and 100% at 72 hours. Who knew? I sure didn't.

Here's the 3/4" clamps installed on the LED strips:

And installed on the bike - note, I took a razor and cut away the unused 3M VHB double sided tape above and below the LED strip once I "stuck" them where I wanted (with the lids closed):

So thanks to twowheeladdict, 18 Wicked Special & meoldaker77 for their engineering tips, I think we now have a winner!

Oh, and these are the clear LEDs I'm using - for a couple bucks more you can also get them in smoked, you have to select which ones you want:

Amazon.com

I also bought a pair in smoke for a friend of mine here in Colorado with a 24 RG. If he buys the beer I may give them to him for Christmas.

I'm really liking this install.

Man this is awesome! Way to engineer a more “cost-effective” and it looks damn good. Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Think I just found my Christmas gift. lol

Awesome job. I just need to get the TP harness to connect the lights to correct?
For a 24 you need the 12 pin splitter with the 6 pin harness that goes to the Tour-Pak. Once you have that then the 6 pin splitter in the Rushmore LED kit(s) plug into that 6 pin harness.

If you don't have power to a Tour-Pak (or no Tour-Pak at all) on your 24 - CD offers a 12 pin splitter (under the seat on a 24) in their LED kit, but their kit is $200 and they don't have amber sequential, only red sequential.

I only use my tour pack which has no lights on occasion so it not on the bike. Is there any other way to get that harness without buying the CD kit? Does HD sell it separately?

They do. But it's like $140! Gimme' a minute I'll fetch the URL and edit this post in a minute. CD had one for $30 I think it was - standby.

Here's the CD one for $30 - Quick Disconnect for 23CVO & 2024 Harley-Davidson® Motorcycle Add-On Tour-Pak

Here's Harley's offering at $145, but Harley includes the Tour-Pak harness AND the 12 pin splitter - Electrical Connection Kit 69203400 | Harley-Davidson USA

Awesome thank you. This will allow me to use these lights without the tour pack correct?

Correct. Get the $30 CD splitter, then the $20 something Amazon LED kit, 4 clamps on eBay and some 3M VHB tape and you're all set for saddlebag LEDs with no Tour-Pak at all on your 24.

I also have a chopped TP on my bike, but no lights to it. After re-reading the install, I now realized that the connection under the seat was the 12-pin instead of the 6-pin from the Rushmore era, so I just bought the CD harness. So what happens to the extra female 6-pin connector from the lights? There's nothing to plug it in; how is the circuit completed if left open? Or can I just seal it up with some electrical tape? Maybe I'm overthinking this.....

Another question...I'm assuming you didn't mount the LED's wiring to your saddlebags, but zip tied it to the chassis/fender housing where available? With the (2) LED wiring connections to the harness under the seat, it seems it would be a serious pain in the ass to remove the seat and those connections each time you wanted to take off your bags.

On 24's when the 6 pin "splitter/module" included with the LED kit is plugged into the 12 pin splitter 6 pin connector, nothing needs to connect to the other end. The unused end would normally be a thru-put connector to the Tour-Pak harness. You can either leave it open, or cover it in tape, or buy a dummy plug to plug into it, or rubber boot to cover it. The plug is there for future use.

Yep, that's one of the reasons. I unclip the LEDs and set them aside if I want to remove my saddlebag(s). I don't have to remove the seat to unplug them. I have wiring running along the frame for my saddlebag speakers and also my Tour-Pak wiring so a couple more wires on the frame is fine with me.

I will most probably install a couple small waterproof 2 pin male/female connectors closer to the LEDs in the future. If I do I'll update the thread. That's a reasonable and doable upgrade, then the LEDS and their clips don't get handled at all. It's pretty neat that there's only two small wires (in one single harness each) running to the LEDs that handle running, brake, and sequential turn. It's evidently all done in the brain unit under the seat.

Today I should have all I need, minus the clips that are still traveling via snail mail. I was going to check my local Ace Hardware to see if they might have something similar. What department might I find them, electrical? Plumbing?

Update: clips found at Ace. Got the last 2 packs. Just need the harness.

Yup, instead of waiting on CD for their amber/red, I'm doing this as well. Clips, CD harness, Felt (I needed this anyway) and the lights that I bought for ex's bike, not knowing about the harness and awesome mods @L255 made. TY! I should be done Monday as well.
I don't recognize that CD harness - it says its for the front headlight.

This is the one that splits off a 6 pin from the 12 pin connector under your seat on a 24:

Yep, that's where I decided I was looking to invent something, lol.
