I've done a lot of research on this because I was on the fence on which to buy. From everything I have read, there are no people that have had one, then switched to another. Looks like its a win-win no matter what direction you go.
I personally chose the hogg chopps because of the price difference. I would like the option to have glove boxes for them, BUT... after coming off an Ultra Classic I found 99% of the stuff I put in the lowers glove boxes were extra crap I should of just left at home anyhow. Like 3-4 doo-rags or gloves I never wear. With the built in storage on the Road Glide, I have no need for the extra glove boxes now.

I'll post up some pics when mine arrive. They are still backordered right now, but they are expecting them this week, then another week for paint.

I have a pair on order as well and bought them for the exact same reason. Really cold have used them this weekend as I did 300 out of 400 miles in the rain. Some of it was through 1 and 2 inches of standing water on the highway. God bless Tennessee.

I've heard lots of good things about the Hogg Chopps but since I'm a sucker I ordered the HD vented lowers from Zanotti HD. I'll post up impressions when they arrive in ~2 weeks.

Since we have identical bikes, 1 with each type of lower we should get together to be able to give honest opinions on what we think. This is a debate that has been going on for a while with people.
Wait, that might not be good, because what if I like the H-D better then my hogg chopps.. :D

I agree, let's do that. One can always find a buyer through the forums or auction sites if the grass is indeed greener.

i went with the H.D. lowers...i fiqured there was a better chance of aftermarket parts being produced to fit them than the hog chops, such as vents and speaker pods, or affordable glove boxes..

I would like to eventually get lowers and I heard if you have fairly large feet or don't like feeling constrained the Hogg Chopps are the way to go. They leave a little more room at the bottom than the stock HD lowers.

I looked into both as well, I settled for the HD lowers for looks and coverage seemed better IMO. I also didn't want to have to deal with trying to find a painter to match the paint it was just easier for me. Plus I leave mine on year round no matter the weather so Once they are on they aren't coming off in my book.

... i've got the HD lowers (leave'm on year round) and often wear bulky Sorels when winter riding & haven't felt cramped behind the lowers yet. Have long, angled Kury hiway pegs set low, down by the side cut-out, which let's me angle my boot to the peg & use the footboard as a heel rest if I'd like a little more stretch room.

Hi;

I am new to the forum. I am looking into har lowers and I prefer the HD from an appearance standpoint. I called HD and the told me that the only lowers that will fit my 2006 Road Glide are some with no vents, have any of you installed the ones with vents??? if so what exact model if you know? thanks very much!! :D

The only ones that HD makes that come with vents won't fit on your RG. The lowers that fit on Batwing bikes are a completely different animal.
You may be able to find aftermarket vents that can be installed in the RG lowers, but I can't say for sure.

My HD vented lowers will be here Monday. Very excited to try them out now that I have found a windshield I like.

Which wind shield did you go with GizmoGlide?
Cee Bailey's SSC 15" Euro with dark tint. It does not keep all the air off of you as I suspect a huge Clearview would, but I have not had any buffeting up to 70 mph and it looks pretty good, too.

Gizmo, what kind of vented lowers did you get?? I called several dealers and they said they won't fit although I am not sure why the onew with vents don't fit?
