My preference is my half helmet, but I just picked up a modular for winter travel in particular. I could see wearing it for road trips outside of winter, but shedding it in favor of the half helmet when I arrive at the Dragon, the Outer Banks, wherever I’m going. Maybe I’m over packing. ;)

I travel solo so I’ll have available real estate to stow a helmet on the passenger pillion between the rider backrest and passenger backrest on the chopped tour pak (that I just ordered). Not sure if that’ll be enough room. The helmet in question is an XL size Shoei.

I just did a search and see a brazilian choices of sacks, packs, and cases for full face/modular helmets. I just want to strap it down and not scuff up the visor.

Ideas? Thanks in advance.

You got her loaded down! Was this a week trip? Did the bike not feel top heavy or lighter on the front end?
16 days 3000 miles no interstates. Rode the windy 9, then on to Sharkweek.

Set the rear sag for the extra weight. The seat bag has my memory foam topper. The bag above riding gear. Tour pack bag has bike cover and rain gear. Tour pack has clothes

Bike handled well. When I stayed at a destination several nights everything including tour pack goes in the room.

Wow. 😳. If you can swing it then might as well bring it if it makes you comfortable. My dad was the same way and traveled with everything but the kitchen sink however he pulled a motorcycle trailer which he unhooked once he got to the motel……. I rode to Arkansas back in the fall and carried everything for the week in just my two saddlebags, including rain gear and tools. Admittedly I travel light with just the essentials which comes from years of ADV traveling on back country dirt roads. But I’m getting with your program now because as I’ve gotten older it’s getting harder and harder to stay minimal because I just don’t wanna give up many comfort items. So I’m going back to a quick release tourpack for trips. Just got to get it painted over the winter….

I’m running a chopped pak. Just a preference. Long, boring story as to why, but like I said, I only ride solo.

I’ll check out the Arno straps. Thanks.
Do what i do since you have a chopped pack anyway. I have too much stuff in my regular tour pack to fit a bulky modular so when riding solo i strap it to the passenger seat behind me.

I have a Kuryakyn Grand tour bag I put on my back seat and use it as a back rest. I keep the foul weather gear and my helmet and leathers in it. Also. On the dragon I’d leave the half helmet in the bag and run with my FF. I wear a Shoei RF1200 it’s only on the bag cause it’s just a gas stop on 77.

I have an older bag that fits on the passenger seat, I keep a modular in a helmet bad in it along with extra boots and other stuff.

This is my ride fully loaded this summer on our Sturgis trip, you can see Mt. Rushmore in the distance.

Almost identical set up. Mine is a chopped pack. Works perfectly.

Off topic, but which luggage rack are you running on your chopped pack? I’ve got a chopped pack on order from Harley painted parts, and trying to decide which, if any, rack to put on top.

I got one of the $50 racks off internet. I tent camp on all of my trips and the rack made it a little easier to load the bike. Only carry a rain fly and tarp stowed in a back pack on the rack.
Have wanted to have my 3/4 helmet with shield for rain and wear the half helmet but never could get it strapped down to where I would not be always reaching back to check
if it was hanging off!

The stuff on the passenger seat is for comfort on the bike and in the hotel. The hard bags weren't stuffed.

On work trips I have a couple notebook computers packed in around the clothes in the tour pack.

Same seat bag and tour pack bag since 2011.

If you don’t mind me asking what windshield are you running? I like how it stays vertical and doesn’t kick way back toward the rider like most taller shields seem to do.
That is a Long Ride Shield (LRS). I’ll have to think about which size and whether it is the Thresher or the Stingray. I own both styles and at least 3 heights.
