I was riding for about 2 hours in sunny 80 degree weather. Bike started instantly cutting out for a split second. After it sat for about 5 minutes, it was fine for another 40 miles. It then did it again and eventually just died. I sat again for about 10 minutes and was able to make it home. What is going on??

Check the battery cables first. Make sure they're tight.

could be lots of things, crank position sensor, coil, fuel pump need a little more info , have you checked for spark, fuel what does it not have when it quits.

That sounds like the problem my old bike had. It will only get worse. It will take longer and longer to get restarted. Then run less and less. I ran the codes and it said crank and camshaft position sensor. I changed the crank sensor and that was the end of that problem.

How do I find code? Something a dealer will have to tell me?
1- Turn Ignition switch to OFF & Run/Stop switch is to Run.

2- Push odometer reset button in & hold.

3- Turn ignition switch to Ignition and release odometer reset button. Background lighting should illuminate, speedometer needle should sweep its full range and indicator lamps (battery, security, low fuel, check engine and cruise) should illuminate. The word “diag” should then appear.

4 - Push the odometer reset button once and you will see the selection menu "PSSPt" with the first P flashing.

5 - Each letter represents an area of the diagnostics module. The module that is flashing is the one you are going to check. To move from one letter (module) to the next, you push the odometer reset button one time. (from P to S to SP to t and back to P, etc.)
P = ECM/ICM (Electronic Control Module [EFI] / Ignition Control Module [Carbureted])
S = TSM/TSSM (Turn Signal/ Turn Signal Security Module)
SP = speedometer
T = tachometer

6 - To get the DTC within an area of diagnostics, push and hold the odometer reset button in for 5 seconds and release. If there are any DTC’s the code will be displayed or the word “none” will appear if there are no DTC’s. Push the odometer reset button again to view additional codes if they exist.

7 - Record the codes.

8 - If DTC’s are not to be cleared, Press and release the odometer reset button. Part number of module will be displayed.
NOTE: To determine if a code is current or historic, clear the displayed code by pushing in and holding the odometer reset button ( longer than 5 seconds) until 'clear' comes up. Release the odometer reset button. Turn OFF the ignition switch. Run your bike and shut it down then recheck the DTC’s again by repeating steps 1 to 9. If the code is current it will reappear.

9 – Press and release the odometer reset button to continue to the next module.

10 – Turn Ignition switch to OFF.

Wonder if it has anything to do with Power Commander V and not having proper MAP. Are the O2 sensors suppose to be in use? Read on here they should be unplugged when using a PCV.

Do you have any form of tuner on the bike? If so I'd make sure that functions properly. Also start with the basics. Make sure you aren't losing spark or fuel.

Could be any number of things since your posting in the ECM forum my crystal ball says you have a Thundermax...:D
Well you should shit can that crystal ball of yours because if it was any good it would have told you to read post #9 :rolleyes:
The OP has a Power Commander V.

Spoke with DynoJet and found I was suppose to unplug o2 sensors. ECM and tuner were probably fighting each other with AFR ratios becuase of o2 sensors being left plugged in. Unplugged them and found bike started and idle much better. Hopefully that was the problems.

Well, bike died again on way to Columbus. Luckily I was near a Harley dealer. Owner told me throw that piece of shit PCV in the dumpster. Those piggybacks are trouble. I took it off and got the Harley stage 1 download for $130 and bike ran great for next 300 miles.
