Put new plugs in a few minutes ago, they were wet from trying to crank
plug wires firing to plug, getting spark
got the battery on charge now.. was a little slow when I first tried.
Have checked all connections and wires.
It could really use compression releases but did not think about that 10 years ago when it was built.
I thnik I will let it charge over night on the battery tender and give it a whirl in the morning.
Thanks Bagger

Hopefully its your battery. If it doesnt start in the morn., that would be the first thing to replace. Next thing to check is to make sure your fuel line didnt pop off the the pump inside your gas tank. I had this happen to me on my 99 Ultra. Coinsedently, bikes are the same year. HMMMMMM? Your pump will purge and everything will sound NORMAL, BUT it aint gonna start if it aint getn gas! That would be my BEST GUESS.

Maybe, just maybe?

It might be arthritis! I get stiff and hard to start when a storm is coming! Sorry, I just couldn't resist. It sounds like the others have given you some good suggestions on what to look at. Hopefully yo are out riding right now and don't have time to read this post!

Well, she sounded like a cannon going off at 06.30 but she spun over about 3 times and then all that fuel in the cylinders ignited and she fired off.. It is ideling a little higher than usuall but at least the old girl is breating again. I guess the battery was down just enough to keep the spark down.
Thanks for all the tips, she has had a bath and ready to head to Church this morning, then out to ride this afternoon.

Well the battery was in it when I got over a year ago, and I do not know how old it is so I think the interstate store will be getting a visit this week.
Thanks again for all the replies, This is why I spend so much of my internet time on this site

That...

....pesky cam position sensor will make her do the exact same thing....... a little loose, a little damp, or one o' your buddies just wants to see you tear your hair out........ yeah, he really did.
That's ok though, I had his ignition switch in my pocket the whole time he was callin' and waiting for the PoPo to come file a report........ course when they got there it was back on...... :p
