I finally found some time to install my Biketronics 7.1's and 6.5's along with my Soundstream Pn4.1000d amp. It took me all dam day but this was my first time installing audio.....EVER!

Regardless it came out great and i am more then happy with the results. I do have a small issue though. I tuned it with the bike running and it was sounding great but once i got the fairing back on (which was a bitch upon itself with this big ass amp and big ass speakers) i noticed that it didn't sound as loud and if i turned it up there was some clipping on certain songs. I figure it might just be the song quality since it all just downloaded music! may just leave it as is for now cause i am in no mood to mess with that fairing again.

Is it only clipping on some songs, or all songs when the volume is high? I all songs, besides the gain of the amp, recheck and secure your power and ground connections.

DBell..... It is only clipping on certain songs.
Hi,

If you are using MP3s I use a small free program called MP3Gain to fix the level programmed into the song data. Some songs have it set too high and it causes clipping, same reason some MP3s are louder than others.

I know this sounds like a sales pitch but I just really like the program, and it is free with no adware or bugs. I have been using it for years to level out my music. It can make a huge difference.

Awesome Bill. Your products are amazing and i will be returnig to purchase your retro kit once i swap out my HU. I will give that ap a try.

I do have another question though for all the audio heads about the best way to adjust my gains.

I have the stock HU with a low level converter and the SS pn4.1000d amp. I turned the volume and gain down on all devices then turned volume up to 3/4. next i turned the gains on the low level converter up until i hear distortion then back down. next i move on to the SS amp and do the same thing. My gains ended up just short of 12:00. According to everything i have read this was the correct way but the distortion i was hearing has got me second guessing myself. Any thing i could do different to get this system tuned any better?
