Anyone out there experience any issues with using their iPod controller for the bike after upgrading to ios 8.XX? Every since I updated my phone, I can not use the controls on the stereo or the hand controls to change tracks or control my music on my iPhone. The track name comes up, but any time I try do advance to the next track, it locks up. Also none of the buttons on the stereo work either. Just curious if anyone else has ran into this problem and what the fix is. Thanks!

I am sorry to inform you, there is no fix. And because Harley in 2014 went with the infotainment unit, they are not working on a fix for you. There has been an issue with the Harley IPod interface from day one and even using an IPod Nano as they reccomend there were still all sorts of issues. Once you upgraded your software you took your phone a generation higher than the interface program can communicate with. I have a 2013 CVO and have spent countless hours on the phone with Harley Tech Services discussing the problems with the interface that came stock on my bike and they basically said, it is what it is. Harmon Kardon developed the interface with Apple and sold it to Harley before anyone relazied the interface program is filled with flaws. It will short loop your play list, freeze if you try to advance too many songs at one time and sometimes will not even recognize your IPod when it is plugged in. Or, this has been my experience thus far.

I hadn't had any issues until this latest push from Apple, it's worked flawlessly. I have an iPod Nano that I can use, but I liked having my phone plugged in so I could hear turn by turn directions from my Google Maps app on long trips. I just bought the Boom Audio interface 5 months ago and put it in, and like I said, it worked great until the IOS 8.XX interface. I guess it'll be back to the Nano unless Apple fixes this! I've also ran into this problem in by brand new car too! I blame Apple!

I've had my interface for about a year now, it was giving me problems at first but went away. Now just last week the damn thing keeps cutting out, didn't update the iPod or nothing. I took off the outer fairing to make sure no wires were messed up, tried shaking the shit out of the wires, interface, etc. to see if I can recreate the music cutting out, nothing. It works fine but when I'm rolling down the road out of no where the music cuts out and I'm stumped on what to do....

i haven't had these problems, even when using an iphone 6 plus with the latest ios update. i can even play pandora, though the only thing to control is volume. with the latest ios update, if i try to skip track, it will change from pandora to the iphone music player. which i can skip track forward and back.

one thing that i have had happen occasionally, is that the ipod controller/hk head unit (not sure which one) will get 'confused'. it only happens when starting the bike, never during normal use. what happens is that it will play about 1-1/2 seconds of music and then just go 'dead'. when this happens, all i have to do is to press on the playlist button and change playlists. then it will start playing again.

its probably done this less than 10 times in over 2 years, so not a frequent occurrence.

I upgraded to the latest Apple Software as well as the latest Boom Audio Software. My controls will not allow me to adjust anything but the volume up and down on my IPhone 5. Very disappointing. Hope They fix this fast.

No, no so it ain't so! My unit was working perfectly until the apple software upgrade.
There's no way HD won't do a software upgrade fix. What's going to happen in two years the radio will be virtually useless with apple products? No way
