In the "for what it's worth department" I was cleaning on the Glide this afternoon and I had some boot marks on the chrome on my exhaust. I posted on here several weeks ago about a solution to remove them and I got a ton of replies, but being the type of person who likes to put off some things till the last minute I never really purchased anything. I happened to remember I had some Turtle Wax Chrome Cleaner and Rust Remover, so I thought why not give it a try. Don't know if anyone else has tried this on your bike or not, but this stuff works great for removing this kind of thing. Just make sure your pipes are cold and don't get any on the paint, per the instructions, but it will shine the piss outta the chrome and also remove the oxidation on the other chrome engine parts, and it's pretty inexpensive, a little goes a long way. Just thought ya'll might like to know. Love this site by the way!!!!!!!

I've been using it for years and it's great stuff for shining chrome. Oven cleaner takes boot marks off as well. Run the engine 'til the pipes are hot then spray it on.
Sorry, I ain't usin steel wool on my chrome.

I had the same problem a while back and asked the question on the forum. Someone suggested oven cleaner. I tried it and it works like a charm. Since the boot marks have been on there for some time make sure your pipes are a little bit hot and they will come right off. Also, make sure you spray the pipes and not anything painted.

Hope this helps...
