Okay... I have figured out my whole no Cruise issue.. The lever on the front brake seems to be loose. I noticed the other night that the road behind me was pretty bright with a red glow. My brake light was on and I wasn't stopping. I pushed the control forward with my fingers and it went off, but only stayed off if I pushed the control forward. Now it doesn't seem to matter if I'm pushing it or not the light is staying on. Of course, when I at first pushed it my "internal" light bulb came on and I tried the cruise. The cruise worked again, but turned off as soon as I let go. So anyway, I don't see where I can tighten the control, and it really doesn't seem to have any play up or down. Does this switch have a spring in it that pushes the control out or something?? I'm going to go ahead and buy one tomorrow, but after my PY Monkey bars, I'm hoping that I'll be able to fix this thing from the switch house and not pull those wires again. If any of you have experienced this, please give me some input... Thanks as always!

Did you change bars or anything to do with that brake lever? The brake switch is only plastic and breaks very easily, you are supposed to put a piece of card board in between the mount and lever, i just take the lever off to make sure. The switch is not cheap, well to buy that is i tried to cross it over to something from somewhere else but no luck yet, looks like a micro switch. I changed mine the last time the dealer had changed once before all they did is cut and splice the wires, i did the same. When you take out the switch remember how all the wires are routed it's a tight fit.

I had a set of 16" Drag Specialty apes on and couldn't snug the housing up tight enough because of the bend angle at the top of the bars. My cruise worked intermittenly because my brake light kept coming on. I had to change the bars to get rid of the problem. There was no problem with the microswitch.

Does anyone have a picture of this?

I can't relate ti where you're saying the "shim" should go, or where the switch is for that matter.

Thanks.

I did the same thing. I pinched the brake switch which caused the short and my engine light to come on along with my brake lights. I didn't know that you had to shim it when putting the brake lever back on. If you don't know what it looks like it is a bulb or plunger looking piece that sits in a small cut out in your actual brake lever. Let me know if you need any help. It cost about 35 bucks to replace and takes a short amount of time. Less than an hour start to finish.
