I just received an order from Surdyke for new mirrors. When I opened the box, I noticed something strange: The left mirror was in a green plastic bag and the right was in a clear plastic bag. When I took them out, the glass on the left mirror was cracked.

Does any have an opinion on why the broken mirror was in a green bag? Coincidence? Did they know it was broken and put it in a green bag to send it back to HD? Do all left mirrors get packed in green bags to tell them apart?

I did an online "Chat" with Surdyke. The person who answered just said, "I'll email you the instructions on returns." When I asked if the green bag meant someone knew it was broken, she got a little nasty and said "No one knew. Read the email I sent you."

Well that just plain fuking sucks!

As I always used Boardtracker, I have eased into ordering from Surdyke. My first order was small and no issues. My second was a little larger with email updates along the way, again with no issues. I just placed order #3 Tuesday for over $500, and now, I am not feeling so well...……...

I’ve ordered parts from them a couple times and they mostly seemed ok. However wonder if they send out rejects sometimes and try to get away with it like a leather dyna seat I ordered a few years ago and stitching was so way off that there was no way you could miss that lol. I don’t order from them anymore

Could be a returned part from another customer and they put the mirror in a green bag and Surdyke just didn't bother opening the box to inspect it. Plus most of the people on chat don't really know motorcycle parts as much as we do. Seems like they got hired to look up part numbers and read descriptions and that's about it. Who really knows though and I would just do the return and hope you can get some undamaged parts in your next order. I've placed many orders through Surdyke and some have been very large orders. I have only returned 1 item and that was my fault for not completely checking the fitment. Once they received the part the money was credited back to my account and I re-ordered the correct part. I have had nothing but positive dealings with them. I also realize that it is a business and things can happen so not everyone has the same experience.
@Bruce00, I wouldn't worry about your order. They are a good place to deal with.

Most folks are on a budget and great to find a store with discounted prices like Surdyke. Even though I had that one experience mentioned above,I think most experiences are great with them and would still recommend ordering from them. I don’t order from them much anymore since I use mostly non Harley parts and accessories on my bikes nowadays.

The green/clear bagging might just be a fool-proofing for the packers (pok-a-yoke) to be sure that they correctly pack one of each side.

I was thinking that too But I have bought a lot of HD mirrors in my life and this is the first time I can remember different colored packaging.

I've gotten parts in different color packing bags from Harley more then once. The last one was black Tour Pak latch set. One was in a yellow and one was in a clear.

All's good with Surdyke. I thought I was going to get stuck with the return shipping cost but they sent me a paid UPS label and are reordering my part.
Good news!! I got a tracking number today , as all my "stuff" shipped today, with the exception of one item, but it was labeled as available

I actually once purchased an air cleaner assembly (not from Surdyke). When I received it, it was clearly damaged and the box that it came in had a "return authorization number" written on it. LOL!!!!!!

The photos look fine. Use them or throw them in the trash... They are your mirrors.

Recieved my complete order last night.....Everything A-OK

Spent an hour in the garage installing my new gloss black saddlebag guards.
The new narrow gloss black primary cover will wait until primary oil change @ 60K

Also recieved lower fairing grills off the water cooled heads to help with air flow during the summer months......…..But after installing them, I said F-It and pulled my lowers off. I'll do with 2 speakers during the summer and go back to a 4 speaker system in the fall

I switched to Surdyke a little while back due to Boardtracker raising their prices. That was well before all the trouble they got in to. - Anyhow, I have had nothing but great experiences with them. I will continue using them until there is a better discount available.
