So I'm looking at upgrading speakers with Hertz Mille legend 1650.3 package from Biketronics. My question is which amp to go with?

Right now, I don't have lowers but haven't ruled out adding them in the future. I have the 2180 sitting on one shoulder saying it will be perfectly adequate but for just a bit more $$ the 2250 is on my other shoulder saying "Come on Brother what would it hurt, you know you want me.....">:) Someone on here says "Buy once. Cry once" I'm having a hard time not following that logic since I already bought once and got a glimpse of the Unicorn but realizing I'm gonna have to cry twice....:crying:.

The 2250 seems like it would be a great base on which to build in the future if desired. I don't plan on adding lids or any or tour pack speakers. Any reason not to go this route? Go ahead, talk me out of it... 17 RGS

I'm extremely happy with my 2180 I just installed. I'm on the fence about adding lower speakers. If I had the 2250. I'd have probably dont it already. I think the 2180 has enough power to not sacrifice the sound by adding lower speakers. I'm pretty sure the 2250 has the power that it wont be a sacrifice.

I just added the BT2180.15 kit with the Titan II speakers. And ya, I'm happy.

Pay once and bitch about your butt hurt because it hurts!!
I vote for BT 2250. For future expansion... All the cool kids that I ride with, says my setup with fairing and lowers sounds killer and loud when I pass them!!
Didn't want lids or Tourpak speaks....just kept it simple and never looked back....Go for it, you know the voice is saying.....Do it!!! Good luck and get your Ass back to your old stompin grounds for Shark week 2020?!

2250, hands down. The 1650 need power. The 2180 will be adequate for just them in the fairing, the 2250 puts them square in their sweet spot with plenty of room to spare.

Add lowers in parallel to the mix and with a 2180 you’re getting about 120W max to each speaker. Not enough juice for the hertz and your front stage will be lacking. Do the same setup with the 2250 and now you’ve got about 180W to each speaker, everyone’s happy.

Of course if you go with the 4250 you can power anything on the planet that you might add down the road. :)

PS. I’m running the 1650.3 in both bikes, have the 4250 in the 18.

As has been said the Hertz 1650s like the extra power of the 2250/4250. I have the 2250 with the 1650s and there is plenty o& power and they sound great. Install was easy too.
Can't wait to hear it next year during your Shark Week bonanza!!!!! Pencil in Penciltucky!!!:nerd:

Thanks guys!

One of my biggest gripes with my current set up is at lower volumes it just sounds thin and cheap. The stock set up sounded better at low volumes. Kinda embarrassing.... Now granted, that went away at higher volumes but just wasn't' getting the clarity at the volume I wanted for sustained freeway listening..... So for those of you with the 1650.3's and power to drive them, how do they sound at lower to moderate volumes? I want to get my expectations in realistic order before I install it and power up the first time. Last time was a let down....:frown:

What's your current setup? There's nothing thin or cheap sounding about the 1650.3. Sitting at a red light with only a couple of bars of volume I guess the exhaust could wash out some of the sound, but at any moderate level of volume no issues to my ears.

I know sound is subjective to everyone differently so what seems thin to me might be perfectly fine to others. This is my first bike stereo so I'm still learning what's realistic to expect. I know the line levelers flatten out the signal significantly. The tone controls made some difference but what sounded better at lower volume distorted at higher volumes so just ended up leaving them centered at 0. I have Hawg Wired"s Rush 3002 plug and play kit. Easy install, 2 ohm Component 6.5 with a 2x150 watt amp at 2 ohm.

Update:
So I ordered the BT2250 and the Mille Legends and I'm in the process of installing them now. Got everything plugged in and fired it up. Yeah, I'm going to like this!!!!! I bet it sounds even better once they break in and I get a cleaner source than bluetooth. Had me smiling as I left it playing about half volume and walked into the house from the garage and could still hear it >:) Now to zipp up the wires, button the cowling back up and go ride!

So did you go with the 165.3 or the 1650.3?
