So I just got my Fastback seat back from Astech.

I had them do their gel pad/memory foam mod, and said to leave the shape alone, but add 1/2" of foam, since I think the stock C&C is kinda thin, and a bit more foam would give that much better of a chance for more comfort.

The seat came back looking the same with the same shape and riding position, which is a good thing. Still one of the best looking seats, IMO. Riding position seems the same, except it is now 1/2" taller, which is noticeable but fine by me. The stock C&C was so low that a bit higher doesn't make it give up anything.

So far, I have ridden to work for the past 2 days- 175 kms round trip, which is about 110 miles, and is a 45-60 minute trip one way.

I think I'm going to like it. Feels good- the foam is medium firm and seems very comfy so far, but I won't know the final verdict until I spend a whole day on it.

This is my solo seat, and I have a Hammock for 2 up (just picked that up). So, the most I will use this seat is a day of solo riding, since any longer trips I generally do 2 up.

My first seat was a Mustang which I had re-foamed by Mean City, and I didn't like it- they changed the seating position and made it worse.

If you check out Astech's website, you will learn about their process and the quality of the products they use. The do things different than the others- they place the gel pad on the bottom instead of on top, so it first off it doesn't get hot, and secondly it absorbs the vibrations from the bike.

Then they gradually build up the memory foam- firmer on the bottom, then progressively softer layers on top, which makes sense to me.

With shipping to NY, total cost was $210. They priced this a solo seat, since I didn't have them mod the Fastback part, since nobody will be riding on that as a passenger. Their website says it's often a same day turn around, but mine took a week.

Customer service was great too- they responded promptly to emails, and Monica called me when they received the seat to confirm what I wanted done.

I'm very pleased overall with the seat and with Astech as a company, and will update later once I get some more time on top of her.

Well, the most I've done on it was about 150 miles during a day trip, but that wasn't destination riding- it was ride an hour to a HD shop out of town, pit stop there, go some more, stop for lunch, etc.

So far I wouldn't say it's a night and day difference since the stock C&C wasn't too bad.

Not sure if that helps, but I would recommend the mod based on the fact what they do to the seat makes sense, and they did good work.

Thought I'd update- I'm liking the seat more and more.

Been riding to work a lot lately, and it seems more comfortable then before on the 45-60 min ride in. Last week I went somewhere and rode non-stop for 1 hr 50 mins, and my butt wasn't sore at all.

Overall I'd definitely recommend Astech Seats.

I've also had seats by MCC and C&C. The C&C I had made for my Wide Glide had an excellent custom look and rode comfy too.

I'm not interested in custom appearance on Hester. It's function over form for me. MCC is great, but their lead time was too excessive for my schedule, so I took a chance on Astech. I'm glad I did.

I had Astech do my RGU seat before my ride to SWIII last year. I LOVE the ride and what I call the comfort endurance. Passengers love it too, but in fairness, the RGU passenger pillon is far wider than the RGC.

I tend to ride 12-16 hour days on my road trips and I don't get butt burn. I highly recommend Astech's services.

Shrug suggested Astech to me last fall. I took his recommendation and I'm glad I did. With stock and Mustang seats I used to go 80-100mi MAX between stops, any further and I was in trouble for the rest of the day. The Astech mods have stretched that out to 160-180 or more, I stop now because I'm not sure where the next fuel is. A weekend with 2 500mi days last month was the final stamp of approval.

Glad to see others are happy with their Astech seats as well. Like I mentioned, I think their process of gel/firm foam/softer foam makes more sense than just slapping on a hunk of standard equal density memory foam like the others do. They claim their memory foam doesn't hold heat like most others- I haven't payed attention or noticed if it's hot or not, but I guess the fact I didn't notice means it's works.

Turnaround was about 2 weeks including shipping time. Can't complain since it's probably their peak season.

I'm glad we are giving them some positive ink- they don't seem to be a very well known company so some more word of mouth is always good.
