Hello everybody, I just recieved my +2 Sweepers and was wondering if anyone can give me a list of parts I am going to need. I plan to wire them internally. Handle bar clamp, bushing, tbw extention, ect. I do not have criuse. This is my first post so please be gentle.

The only problem I forsee, is that the dbw harness takes up most of the space in the right side of the bar. Might be a tight fit to stuff other wiring in there too.

What I've heard works best for internal wiring,.. is old throttle cable or clutch cable. Its stiff to push through, but skinny enough to tape wires to, to pull back through the bars.

I've seen in magazines where they cut the tbw wires and then re-soder them. I beleive Harley makes a new throttle sleeve {PN-32310-08} with a smaller connector so you can fit it threw the bars. But if your all telling me i don't need it then i'm off t the garage where there is peace and quiet. No wife in there!

Cloths hanger wire
Cut it open and make it straight
Push it through the bars
Tape all the wires to the hanger wire
Pull the wire back through gently :cool:

PS

Harley has made it so on the 08 and newer that the plug will pull though on the electronic throttle so you take it off when installing new bars
and they do have wire extension kits at HD and other suppliers as well that are matched to the MOCO wiring colors
some one said sodder and they are 100% correct sodder and shrink them

So just unbolt the outer fairing, unplug the tbw, and I should be fine? I'm sure there will be a fair amount of swearing! Thanks for all the help. If anybody knows of any secrets please chime in. I will be tackling this project on my next days off.

Take off the outer fairing. Take all your levers and controls off before losening the bars. Wiggle the internal part of the TBW, and you can see which one moves under the dash, and you can unplug it. I found its easiest, to then just take the bars off with the TBW still in the bars and the wires handing out where it clamps to the triple tree.
Now pull on the internal TBW assembly where the grip was. You will pull out about 10 inches or so, and see 2 connecters, a green one and a black one. Be very careful with these, because its cheap plastic and you can break it very easy (I know this from experience). Once you unhook those 2 connecters, you pull the wires back out of the bars on the bottom. It will all make sense when you see it, because the TBW connecter that is under the fairing is to big to go through the bars. Maybe this is a better explanation. So there are actually the internal assembly that connects to the grip. Those wires split and have two connecters that are inside your bars. Those two connecters then kinda join back as one and goes to a duecth(sp?) clip that is in the fairing.
It sounds like a lot or complex, but once your in there its very easy. Like I said, be careful with the connectors, they break easy. You can also do like others have said, and solder them,.. which I will probably do next bar change I do on mine.

How'd it go? I bought the khrome werks wide sweeper +2 . Did you have to re-route the clutch cable? Any problems with the TBW connectors? How about all the wires for the cruise, stereo, etc?
I'm going to install my bars tomorrow night. Already have the outer fairing off, installed some J&M 7.25" speakers, and I know how to get the ignitn switch off.

you do need to re-route the clutch cable, the throttle side might be a bit of a pain to run the control wires through with the TBW connectors in there...
you could always cut the TBW connectors off and solder..
I did mine like Chainsaw did... took the bars off with the TBW harness still inside, it was the easiest way to do it.
I did not run my wires internally though..

Black09inOK everything went well. Took me about three hours i did cut my tbw, yes that was scary on brand new tweny thousand dollar bike! The only problem was putting the fairing back on, always is. I did reroute the clutch cable and i don't have cruise. The only wires I have internally are the tbw, for now. This winter I will tear it down again and run them internally and put an amp and new speakers. Good luck.
