Cee Bailey's 16" dome switched from kw 12"

I took a chance and got a Cee Bailey's 16" Dome with light tint. I am well pleased! Was tired of my head getting beat up on the freeway when wearing a FF helmet with the KW 16". I picked the Dome over the Euro or SERG because it was more pleasing to MY eye on MY bike. Plus it has been stated that the dome is more friendly to the pillion than the Euro.

Overall. IMHO- THIS IS THE SHIELD THAT SHOULD COME STOCK FROM THE MOCO ON FLTR/U!!!!

1. First thing I noticed was less wind noise, Much easier to hear the radio at speed. Don't need ear plugs with the CB Dome. Had to have them with the KW.

2. Second thing is that there is still a mild degree of buffeting, but it is WAY LESS than the kw 12", and it IS tolerable. If you don't want any buffeting, then ride a car. This 16" CB Dome has no more buffeting than the stock 16" that came with my bike, but looks WAY better! Now I can live at 95-100 mph and NOT get my head beat up. With the KW 12" I was getting tired of the head patting at 70-85 mph after 45min-1hr. With the CB 16" Dome I can ride 85mph+ indefinitely.

3. The light tint is too light. the KW tint is much nicer. However, the optical quality of the CB is FAR superior to KW. The KW had some distortion if you looked through it (I never had to; I could easily see over it.) The CB is very clear to look through. (Good thing for me because I can see less over this 16" than the 12". I'm 5' 11"; 32" inseam) Took me about 50 miles to get used to the slight cut in my direct vision. The CB is EASY to peer though at NIGHT!

4. Quality of the CB is better than the KW. The plastic is thicker, it fit much better, as I said above the optical quality is superior.

5. For a full sized shield it looks very good. Coming from the KW 12" it is not very much difference in the look. But the function is HELLA better!

Your bike looks so good from every angle...the front's the best with that headlight bezel.

...is this the TR Super Step Contour windshield ???

Very nice. I have been running the 16" Euro for over 30K miles and could not be happier. You have made a wise choice with the CB.

I believe the CB is as good as you can get for a balance between style and function. I hear the Windvest and Clearview are very effective, but to me they lack in the style department.

I agree with you, Cee Baileys is the best looking shield out there. Your bike looks great!

I agree Cee Baileys has the form & function esthetic cornered when it comes to windshields for the RG. I am amazedd at how the CB TRSSC Dome 16 " is the same height as the stock shield yet looks SOOOOO much better. Plus it is more stable at speed. Not only that but The more I ride with it and look at it on my bike, the more I am preferring the LOOK of the CB 16" to the KW 12".

The ONLY thing I would complain about is that I wish Cee Baileys had a medium tint that was comparable to the KW tint. Their dark tint is too dark for this size, and the light tint too light.

I agree with you, Cee Baileys is the best looking shield out there. Your bike looks great!
Thanx CHAINSAW!

1. Thank you.

2. I'm 5' 11"; 32" inseam, and I tend to slouch. So I can mostly look over the CB 16". I can see directly over it to the horizon, but it cuts a little into my direct vision of the tarmac a few more yards further ahead than The KW 12". I can not look over it as well as I could with the KW 12" which I could completely look over;.. but definitely better than the stock 16" which I could not look over at all. I'd say that it cuts about 1/4 into my lower visual field, but the optics are so good that you get used to it quickly and it really is not a problem even at night.

Looks Great!

Thank's!

I have a 14 in windvest on my 09, has anyone compaired the 16 in CCB dome to the WV 14? I am 5 10 with a 30 in seam and get a lot of wind hitting right at visor level on my 3/4 helmet and it still shakes my head around on the highway. I cannot wear my 1/2 helmet without going deaf. I have ordered the 2010 faring mounts to see if that will help but I do not want to keep trying things that do not work. Thanks

In this thread, SonarChris talks about seeling his CB 16" for a WV 14".

He does not explain why, but maybe you can PM him with your question. I don't know why he switched, but he posted positive comments on the CB 16" in some previous posts on "the other" HD forum. In fact his positive comments on the CB 16" are what inspired me to get it myself. If I remember correctly he is taller than us (6'1"-2" or something like that) So go figure why he switched to the smaller 14" WV????

As far as the wind lifting the glasses? Don't know about WV, but I know that with the KW 12" I did not have that problem; even before the lowers. I think that turbulent air in the rider area is less of a problem with a step contour shield Such as the CB TRSSC or KW. You just have to get the right size.

I switched to 2010 fairing mounts, but I did it so that I could put on the new vented lowers. I can't tell you what the new mounts alone will do, but I will say that the lowers and 2010 mounts cut down the buffeting around the body and shoulders significantly. However, I still had some residual buffeting at the top and sides of the head along with wind noise at the ears. Thought I'd give the CB 16" a try; sticking with their size recommendations for my height. This CB 16" dome is the shield I'm sticking with for now.

Thanks for posting the pictures of the CB16". I've been looking at changing from my 10" Windvest. Trying to pick the right one. Don't want to end up with a collection of windshields.
You are welcome...

Here is another for good measure... LOL!

I have the '10 mounts and the 14" euro light tint CB on my '09. 5'5" w/27.5" inseam, Mustang Sport Touring seat. Yeah, the bike's lowered. Very little buffeting wearing my Shoei full coverage. Radio's very clear. Can't wait to get factory vented lowers. :D
