Looking for a center stand. The HD model is nice and chromed, but the install instructions look like the frame needs to be damn near empty to install it. I'm considering the Wheel dock model as it installs with just two bolts. Anyone have any experience/insight to share?

Thanks in advance!

I bought one of the Harley Center Display stands. It was a PITA but after I put in on and off several times, I figured out how to install it, it was easier.

First, I screwed the bolts into the Bolt plate to remove the Locking material from the bolt.

Second I mounted the rear two bolts in place loosely to hold the stand up.

Third I took a straw and moved the single bolt plate in place, with the lip in the hole. I used the straw to hold it in place while I took the third bolt to install. I used some red locktite on the bolt and started the bolt in the bolt plate.
I tightened the bolt and held it as I tightened it to specifications.

Fourth I removed the rear bolts one at a time. I applied Locktite to these bolts and tightened them also.

This is how I mounted the Center Stand.

I dont know about the wheeldock version , but , the Harley version is called a "show stand" I believe , the stand does not lift the bike off the ground , has bolts than you adjust to contact the ground , ya dont have ta adjust every time , just the first time , merely gives you a level bike ...
The Harley "Show Stand" can be adjusted to lift the rear tire off the ground. It states that fact in the instructions. I have mine set to just lift it very little.
When I had my 1998 Ultra, I had a front Ride Off Stand. Several time I was at a light. I could take my foot and put the stand on the ground. Then I would roll the bike back a little. The Stand would go down and the Bike would stand straight up and I could sit with my feet on the boards until the light changed. I could then just ride off. It was nice. With the new stand, it is mounted in the center and I can't use it unless I get off to put it down. It is good to use for storage and when washing the bike.
Who is the manufacturer of the New center stand?
It is in the Harley Accessory catalog. part number 91573-09A for 2009 or later Touring Models and 91573-06 for '99-'08 Touring models with Original Equipment or Profile® Low suspension.
I have the Harley Center Stand. I have no problem with Ground Clearance. I have leaned over and had the floorboards scrape, but not the Center Stand.
I've had my Wheeldock for a month now on my 06. One of the best additions I've made. Easy install and easy to use. Compared the HD stand and didn't like all the work and parts removal needed to install it.
That may be true with the Harley stand on '08/Earlier models. But with the new frame it is very easy and clean when installed.
