Well in exactly 11 days I start my road trip. I'll be departing from Chicago en route to Arizona. I'll be spending a few days in Arizona then heading up north to the grand canyon, Bryce canyon, Zion national park, Navajo country to see some slot canyons, an if I'm lucky enough up through the Tetons and heading home. I have 3 weeks to ride as much as possible. I'll be camping the entire trip and taking a lot of pictures. Subscribe as I'll be posting daily with my trip and experiences. I'll post a rough route in the next week in anyone is interested in meeting up to escort me for a while. Always open to side roads, suggestions and a cold beer as well!!

Hey SGT,

I have the Roadglide flag and am looking to pass it along and meet more members. How about a meet up in Az to pass off and maybe you can pass it along to someone else on your way back home. Please let me know if you're interested.....I'mm itching for an excuse to take a ride and get away from work for a day or two!

Only reason I have that time off is my boss promised me whatever time I wanted for vacation after returning from Afghanistan. I took advantage of her offer!

I did reach Arizona. I'll be in the south eastern part of the state for a few more days. After that I'll be headed up north through monument valley and into Utah. Maybe we can meet up that way next week?

OK, Well I got started on my trip a few days ago and made it to AZ on Wednesday afternoon. I ended up traveling mostly highway from Chicago to Kansas City the first day. My second day ended up taking me on 70 and then onto US 54 South. 54 was a very nice ride, 2 lane highway and not a lot of traffic. I was however passed by a couple of Ferrari's Lamborghini's and an Aston Martin. Apparently I decided to travel the same route as a good portion of the Gumball 3000 race this year. Pretty cool though. 80 miles an hour on cruise control from pretty much every fill up to empty. The speed limit is 75 MPH and you do have to slow down for a few little towns but they are only one or two stop lights and once through there you'll be flying again. The Glide road like a dream, and with the new stereo I was able to hear every beat of music even at 80 MPH.

54 took me all the way down to I 10 and Santa Rosa New Mexico where I camped for the first night. Unfortunately I had my camera buried and wasn't able to get any pictures on the way down. When I leave Sierra Vista I will be repacking and take a few pictures loaded up so people can see what I am traveling with. In a few days I will leave from here and head up north. I was thinking of stopping off at Yaffe's place in Phoenix for a photo or two and then maybe SMT machining in Glendale as they are the ones who made my wheels. I'll hopefully meet up with Mcrider996 up that way and take the flag from him. I'll be continuing on to monument Valley and Camping there for the night and then moving through several of the National Parks in Southern Utah. I will try to get some pics posted up as soon as possible but due to the nature of my trip and lack of internet it may not be until after I get home. Take care everyone and enjoy the ride!

Just found your thread. I live just NE of Phoenix, in Scottsdale. If I had a day to ride through AZ, I would definitely take 89/89A all the way from Yarnell through Flagstaff, knowing that you are headed up to Utah. Sure, Devils highway in the eastern part of the state is great for 50 miles or so, but kinda leaves you out in the middle of nowhere. I wish I saw this thread a few days ago, I definitely would have planned to escort you... And it's a little for me to rally my posse for a Saturday ride up that way. I could meet you Sunday morning, if you decided to explore easten AZ tomorrow, and drop back into PHX tomorrow night. Devils highway is indeed a magical ride... Lemme know. Peace, brotha...

+1 saw the Gumball Rally headed south through Northern Indiana Memorial Day weekend. Saw three sports cars running together then a few miles behind them a group of 3 that looked to contain a Rolls Royce in the group. They were headed the other way and the writing on the cars is what got my attention. I didn't even know they still did that and coincidentally I heard David Hasselhof on the radio saying he was driving in it. Cool stuff!
