........ok so i have a 15 RG, just installed the Harley High Output 54 Amp Charging kit..... Test rode the bike a few times and all was fine so this past Wednesday went on a ride to D.C. for a Funeral and no problems BUT coming back home got the engine light on once i hit the NJ turnpike and was praying i make it home lol, but i didnt make it, i got all the way to the GW Bridge and the bike konk out right at the toll booth, make a long story short i got an error code off of my FP3 ( P0374 ) and today i finally got a chance to take my baby apart AGAIN and once i remove the CKP sensor i know this doesnt look good

I also MUST ADD that we was caught in crazy traffic to the point where my Digital Oil temp gauge was blinking at around 304-310 , the bike was running hottt and from the looks of this sensor im wondering if the heat caused this to melt and fail.......

Everything looks good down there...

So what caused this to happen on a bike with a little less than 12,000 miles.... , Thats the question i need an answer to because i need to know , otherwise im selling this bike.........had an 05 Goldwing for 7 years with no issues what so ever......other bikes also but as for my first Harley im getting disappointed !!!

That is odd, been running my 08 since it was new and I never had a crank positioning sensor issue.
It either melted or it was rubbing on something, it could have shorted out and caused excess heat, just replace it and see what happens the CKP isn't too expensive.

ok so i installed the new one the bike it was running fine last night in my garage and then this morning took her out to test ride her and BAM the bike shut down a few block away, got her back to my house and the FP3 is giving me the same error code CKP sensor , remove the sensor and sure enough something did the same thing as in the above pic, now i really have to find out what can be causing this when the only NEW thing on my bike is this Harley davidson High Output 54 amp Charging kit............and im wondering if that can be the issue ( to powerful for this Crank Sensor )

I cleared the code with the FP3 and shut the bike off and back on and no codes ran it for awhile the 2 nights ago for awhile in my driveway no issues, the next morning started it right up no codes no engine light but as soon as i rode about 10-15 mins away, engine light popped up and bike shut down, checked codes with FP3 and same thing CKP sensor, get it back home first thing i do is pull the CKP sensor out and it looks like the above pic ( Damaged ) so tomorrow im taking the oil filter off and looking down the CKP sensor hole with my Camera Scope to see if i see whats damaging my sensor

So today i finally had a chance to get some work in on my bike to find out what was causing my crank sensor to get damaged and i found that the Ultra twin fan oil cooler i installed had something to do with it..................the part that connects the oil filter to the kit shifted and the gasket was blocking a hole, i guess starving the bike of oil ( thats why my bike was running hot when it first occured. So i go on their website and i see they sell just the gasket or the gasket and the part that connects the oil filter , leading me to believe that this has happened to others.....
so now i will just order what i need ( gasket ) and try this again ( Keep forgetting Harley rattles everything loose )

Wheres my loctite........
