The clutch cable on my bike rubs on the gauge nacelle and I'm sure its a common problem, may already be a thread for it, tried searching...

I just got my fairing painted and don't want to destroy it.

Any suggestions? Tried and tested ideas? The stock HD strap/clamp isnt gonna cut it

I fixed mine with a tie wrap on the inside that was about 18 months ago as a quick fix still holding in place

My neighbor just replaced the HD retainer with a black plastic P-clip from the local Ace hardware store. I think it was a plumbing part....

i ended up buying the part listed above. Will post info/pics on how well it works. looked around in Home Depot and Lowes and didnt find anything that really hit the spot as far as inexpensive repairs. I have to look at it when I ride and it would bother me if it didn't turn out like I wanted. Thank you for the posts and suggestions, I was hoping another company made something similar, but not so flashy or expensive, but if it works, it will save my paint!

Come to think of it, I just looked at the pics above, and I saw that part at Lowes and I wasn't sure if it would work... seeing it now, it does!

Looks close but they call it a speedo cable guide. Even if not, it looks like it'd work.

Yup, unfortunately I couldn't find it for less than $27, plus shipping. But it beats getting things repainted.

Just an update, I located it lower on the frame after rerouting the clutch cable for the taller bars.
