Almost time to go.. The wife and I are heading out on Saturday 24 Aug headed for California from Virginia and back. We will be going through the following states.
Virginia, West Virginia, Kentucky, Indiana, Missouri, Kansas, Colorado, Wyoming, Utah, Nevada, California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma, Arkansas, Tennessee, Virginia....
We will be on the road for a little over 3 weeks and was wondering if anyone here in the Shark Tank knows of any cool or interesting things to do or see along the way in any of these states. I will post pics of our adventure when we get back home to Virginia in September.... Thanks in advance.......

I can think of a several things when coming into the Kansas City area and across Kansas. The WWI Museum at Liberty Memorial in Kansas City is fabulous, the only thing like it in the world.

Try our midwest BBQ...everyone has their own recommendation. My favorite overall is Jack Stack at several locations:

Kansas offers the Flint Hills via the Hwy 177 scenic bypass. You can see some of them on I-70 or I-35, too.

Greensburg, KS has the worlds largest hand dug well and is where one of the largest EF 5 tornadoes destroyed the town in 2007.

Here are a couple of other links:

Hope this gives you something to consider and have a great trip...sounds wonderful!

Give me some routes you are looking at taking through the western states and I'll give you some routes. Anywhere in Colorado is awesome. I've ridden that entire state and it's one of my favorites. When you roll through Utah, hit Zion National Park. Another one of my favorites down in southern Utah is Monument Valley, especially when the sun is going down.

Arizona; taking the back way on the 89 from Prescott up to Flagstaff. Nice two lane twister that takes you through Sedona. Jerome is a cool little ghost town to stop in and get something to eat.

Wyoming; roll through Jackson Hole and check out the Teton's. One of my favorite towns there (we hit it up every year). Yellowstone National Park is pretty cool to roll through. Irma's (I think that's the name) in Cody, WY is a good place to stop in and eat. This is Wild Bill's restaurant he named after his daughter. Chief Joseph Highway and Beartooth Pass isn't too far away; love those runs.

Cali; Pacific Coast Higway (all of it). LA does suck (my opinion), but I still want to ride the Mullholland Drive someday. Nor Cal; San Fran and up is my favorite. If you have time to visit Alcatraz, it's worth it.

There's my cliff notes! I've lived all over the west coast being military and this side is my favorite!

Hit me up if you would like specifics! Hope it helps and have a safe ride!!

You want to ride Mullholland HWY, not Dr. Drive is a residential street that starts and stops. Rode Mulholland HWY yesterday, always a great run from PCH to old Topanga and back to the coast. Love it or hate, I love it.

Nat'l Park Pass

Get a National Park Pass - good for any national park admission for 2 bikes as long as you are togther. If you are 62 or more it costs $10 and is good for life. Other wise about $80 and good for the year.

Just got back from SW III - some great rides in southern Utah - Zion, Bryce, Cedar Breaks and the North Rim of The Grand Canyon just to name a few.

Million dollar highway in Colorado and Wolf Creek Pass. (Especially if you like CW McCall)

Have great trip -

We plan on stopping at as many diners from Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives as possible along the way. We also are planning to run a good stretch of Hwy 1 in Ca. Also Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon are now on the list of things to see. Thanks for the info everyone.....
