After much research, I ordered the Cartridges for my 2015 RGS from Howard and plan on a DIY install. Anyone done this that has pics? BTW I did the rears already.
Nope, but after doing the rears I'm wanting to do the fronts. Make sure you post up the part numbers and plenty of pix of the install

Which rears did you get and what are your impressions? Thanks
I'm thinking about both front and rear ohlins!
#6 and Wow is my impression.
opinion: Harley should go high tech with some sort of high-tech suspension. example: magnetic/electronically adjustable suspension components. 1up 2 up and sport configurations seem pretty doable with current technology. Rushmore 2.0 perhaps :) till then Ohlin's will do just fine

Ride Report

One of the unnamed members stopped on by to have both ends done on Monday with Arlin Ness Hot Legs on his 2015 (I think). Took all day 9am~10pm (including a long lunch which is a must) than about 2 1/2 hours to set it up the next day. He & his wife than left for the keys for a few days. Maybe after he gets back home next week he may say something of his experience if inquiring minds want to know.

Please all think kind thoughts for TJ316 as he is getting a new CV joint (Hip replacement) in yesterday. I will make a note as he may look at the suspension part right after recovery on his I-Pad if he has a connection. Tim, good luck & get your bike back together.

Update:
removal phase--
Everything is going smooth. disassembled the bike and removed the valve from the bottom (pic attached) and the .150 from top of the stanchion tubes. All good.

Couple small annoyances I overcame so far....
You need a fairly long 12mm Allen key to reach the bottom bolt on the right slider, you will also need to use your impact wrench on these bolts and it is deeply recessed, not an off the shelf item at HF, or Sears (I looked) I ended up buying a 12mm allen and cutting the short side off placing in a impact socket, BAM, solved.

Which oil to use? I watched Howard's video and Amy calls out using Ohlins 5wt. Which sounds correct for cartridges, but the manual calls out for a specific part number 01309-01, which dude at the parts counter tells me is closer to 7.5 wt, ahh shit.
A quick call to Howard and he clarifys. Use the part number. Thanks Howard. To be honest I was tempted to just buy belray oil 5wt. I bit the bullet and bought the Ohlins oil, I want this install pure to Howard's instructions. I might contemplate another oil in the future, but need this initial install "baselined."

Level of difficulty so far? It is relative to your skill set.
I spent another life as an aircraft mechanic and the last 25 as a project manager in IT and disaster recovery. And for me it is about a 7 (because of machining step). Ymmv.

I will check in again once installed and setup.

Ohlins oil is 5W. Here is the oil list I have from Ohlins.

Öhlins Fluids I mentioned 01309-01 Viscosity, cSt: 19,0 @ 40º C. This is not the "weight" as they rate them much differently.

The evolution of lubrication fluids is a never ending story and Öhlins Racing AB is committed to offer the latest technology to all our customers. This autumn we will launch a completely new shock absorber fluid with very high durability in both hot and cold conditions, and viscosity as low as 11cSt at 40o Celsius.
The fluid has a very high viscosity index and it will be a trusty friend in your shock for a long time thanks to an increase in the wear out performance. You will also have less fading in your shock due to the new recipe.
NEW RANGE FRONT FORK FLUID
Together with the new shock absorber fluid Öhlins is just about to introduce a powerful, new range of front fork fluid that will give you the best possible performance when riding on your bike. This new front fork fluid has a viscosity index that is almost three times wider than its predecessors, and it is designed to lower the friction in your front fork.

The engineers at STATOIL have found a way to cut friction with more than 30%! Quick air release and high resistance against foaming is another two strong ingredients and combined with long life time this new front fork fluid is the perfect match for your front fork.

Install is complete. I had a couple of minor issues and one kinda funny thing:

Oil level:
not sure what the oil level should be HD manual calls for 95mm, Ohlins manual calls for 150mm. I did take off .150" off the upper stanchion tube, should I take that into account? hmmm...
Quick call to Howard: reply, 200mm--cool beans.

Left is now done and moving on to the right. backed off the settings on the Ohlins cap and when I installed it I could no longer move compression adjuster Arghh I must have fu$ed something up, but how?!?!?
Called Howard: advice carefully put the cap into soft jaws and see if it comes undone. It does, whew!!
My advice in combination with Howard's. when you open up the adjusters, per manual, move forward at least one or two clicks. I believe this will keep the compression adjuster in the cap from binding.

Sometime you just have to laugh:
While dumping out the oil and fishing the parts from my bin I carefully laid everything out on a clean rag and took inventory of the parts.
But wait, there is an extra spacer that came out of the right side. hmm wonder what this could be? Glanced over at my exploded diagram, not seeing it. Wiped it off and discovered it was my wedding ring, what a rookie, just glad I did not call Howard on that one. :)

In hindsight- would I recommend that people take this on themselves? No, I would point them to Howard. I on the other hand enjoy doing something myself and getting a bit 'cerebral' in the process and makes me feel more connected to the project, plus I now have the tools to disassemble and service my forks in the future.

I'll have to wait till the rain stops here in Ca to go out and test. yeah, want to break a drought, upgrade your scooter, it will make it rain like Noah had it aka El Nino.

One last comment, with a shout out to Howard.
Howard is a great guy to chat it up with about this stuff, joke with and the like. He answered all my questions and gave me some great setup advice to boot. Highly recommend using Howard, you feel you have a partner who is part of your personal conspiracy to make your HD handle to its full potential, not just some 'dude' pushing product over the Internet. I have read comments that Howard can be rough around the edges, well all I can say to that is, adjust your fem napkin and pull your big boy pants on, he is what I call "results oriented". :)

Cheers.

I don't think Howard ever had an issue with the extra spacer since he's single and doesn't have a wedding ring lol

Howard I did do a write up on a couple of other forum but happen to find you here..So I will tell you that even with no fine tuning yet (still raining ) it's night and day..The ride is smooth and the handling is unbelievable Never knew a big harley could be such a great handling bike. But now I'am a believer . To me this is as impressive as the smooth ride .My bike is fun as Hell to ride now. No more geezer glide (that's a old man bike for you who don't know southern talk) It is solid and smooth all at the same time. It's now what you would expect out of a $30,000 motorcycle.
To all that are talking to Howard about their suspension you have done made the right choice. . For the best suspension on a Harley in my opinion it is a Howard /Ohlins combination hands down..
