Lately I have been seeing people running without the traditional crash bar and going for a smaller one that seems to mount under the fairing and is all but un-noticeable unless you are looking for it.

I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these and what your opinions are? it sure "slims" down the bike apearance but seems like would be losing some protection for sure...what do you think?

you raise a good point my friend. But as i currenlty don't have lowers at this point and with south texas running 100 degree plus temps in the summers i am thinking of this being a "summer set up" and hopefully plan on buying lowers when it starts to get "cooler" around here and then can go back to my original crash bars to carry my lowers if i have them then.

I really am not too sure of the protection of this item though....but i am diggin the look fa show!

I'm with ya on the look without the engine guard bars, but not on my $20k bike, I'll take the guard bars all the time.

I've already laid this thing over twice, once on each side, gently of course, and both times were in the first 3,000 miles. That little engine guard bar saved me from some serious and expensive body damage (and made it a lot easier to pick the bike back up too, before anyone saw me do it). ;)

Gary Williams makes a bracket out of billit alum, that is tucked under the faring, this allows you to use the mustach bars and different running/turn signinal lights.
I looked at his Saturday and told him he needed to sell them. I will have one as soon as I decide on the lights I want to use.

I do have those monkey bars! Love em by the way...had to push them forward though to keep the cool factor and ease some shoulder tension

I appreciate everyones opinions and will probably end up staying with the "money saver" crash bars that are on there now...but man that klockwerks look sure is nice...

I have used the klock werks bar and their 12" shield bike looked great, but after someone sat on my bike and dropped it I put the engine guard back on.
