I ran into a similar problem when I took the rear brake assembly of to put a softbrake lever on. The 3 bolts would not go back in. I ended up buying a tap and die set and chasing the holes. My theory is that they did not block the holes when coating the frame. How they got the bolts in originally is beyond me. I also put Kuryakyn floorboard spacers on. I had no trouble with those.

Definitely try to retap the hole before buying a new kick stand mount. You should be able to buy just the one tap you need. Unless you want to buy a set of taps.
Like Reddobe said, go to the hardware store and buy the tap you need and retap the hole, even though you are mainly cleaning up existing threads still make sure to put some oil on the tap. If you're not sure what thread size tap you need just take the bolt with you to the hardware store, they will be able to tell you.
