Does any one know what the length of the Damper Tube is on a 2012 Fltrx? And doe's the length of it determine whether the front end is lowered?
Here's the history of my front end. I was not happy with stock set up and found a used set of Progressive Lowering Monotubes, and installed them -1". The ride and handling was somewhat better and I liked the absence of brake dive. The problem was there was a knocking sound when the forks topped out. If I compressed the front end holding the brake and then pulled up on the handle bars, I would here the knock every time. Not sure if the monotubes were faulty or maybe not installed right. So, a guy I know had a set of chrome forks off an '08 CVO something, (he couldn't recall the model) he had worked on years ago, and let me have them even up for my set up including my stock internals. When on the bench, side by side, they were the exact same length as my lowered by 1" monotubes set. I thought that was odd, unless they were altered some way by the previous owner. Or maybe a particular CVO model came lowered in '08? Not sure what is inside them. It seems to ride similar to the stock set up as I remember it.
So, I'd like to go back to stock height and also try to improve the handling. I plan on doing a fork rebuild, as I really don't have a service history on them. I'll most likely install Ricor Intiminators and Race Tech straight rate springs. Not sure what I'll find when I open them up, and that brings us back to the question of "what is the length of a stock damper tube". If I find shorter dampers I'll replace them, to try to get back to stock height. Or maybe that's not the reason they are lower than stock?
Sorry if it got a little long winded. Thanks for any info you may have.

The MoCo makes a"Profile Low Touring Front Lowering Kit". Part #54564-09. But it doesn't say if the included spring or damper tube is what makes it lower. Maybe both?
