Got hosed today. Some background, I purchased the ESP Tire and Wheel (TW) coverage separate from the ESP and the bike. Not going to mention dealer now. They issued me the card with the TW contract number. All good.

So, I get a nail in the rear tire and go to the local dealer. They check my contract number and it is non-existent. The HD ESP service center does not have it. HD corporate does not have it (since it was purchased separately). No one has it.

I call the dealer and they need to send a comptroller to some warehouse to look for the paperwork.

I have requests with my bank for statements going back that far (already archived). That could take time.

It looks like the sales person at the dealer filled out paperwork, took my money, and then did nothing with the documents.

I will pay to get my bike home with some new shoes. Maybe get reimbursed the entire TW amount later.

Thought I would share. Keep all paperwork (I probably lost mine in my move to south Florida). That would have saved me but I jacked that up. And stay on top of dealers to make sure you are covered.

Any thoughts? Any possible COA I may have missed? Thanks.

GlideShark: If (if) you have the "card" and can find the proof of payment, i'd say all is good. If (if) I recall the Tire & Wheel minus our ESP was around 250-280 $ for 7 yrs (note: think it was only offered at the time of the ESP), then in 7 HD offered 5 yrs more if under 70K for just a lil less $$ than the 7, of course we had 69,998 miles on the bike and took that for around $1600.00 with the T&W.
Believe ours expired two months ago, anyways, difference for your preference on make of tire and so on (have to check past posts, butt were about as good as the gov't on selective record keeping), so say 98k on the 03, I've paid OOP for maybe 2 fronts and two rears & had a wheel replaced, reimbursed for a firepit and a rm with indoor plumbing and $110 tow bill once, plus the dealer came got the bike when in town (remember 2/16 rule) that just TW
Saying one(1) $300 rear tire not counting possible other expense
The receipt would be worth finding and rubbing it in there face as you egress to your favorite activity.....

Giving the dealers name might save someone else the trouble you're having.

Reds-- I do have the card and will find proof of payment. And I will get my loot back.

Harley Rider-- the dealer supposedly has new ownership and they said they will make it right. I will wait and see what they do before putting their name out there in relation to this issue.

Was saying you may come out better enforcing the TW, or hell do both and grab some of that free candy in that hog shaped dish on the way out.

Happened to me with ESP coverage on my 2000 FLSTC. Dealer never submitted the forms and I found out a couple years later when I called corporate to cancel and get a refund.
Seems the dealer took the chance some people would never need the coverage, or that if you did need the coverage, you would be close to him and take the bike to his establishment.
When confronted with the proof I paid for said coverage, I was refunded every dollar and showered with dealer shirts and hats too ... not to mention an apology, and that it was a simple clerical mistake.

I'm sure if you have the proof of payment and insurance card...they (MOCO) will have to honor it.

Exactly what I was told happened. A refund has been promised so long as I have proof of payment-- now I am waiting for the bank to send me statements that have been archived (missed the cutoff for easy access by a few months).

I was told NO !
As far as Harley was concerned, it is a separate company that handles the extended service agreements and it was sold by the dealer, not HD.
Didn't matter. The dealer knew I had proof of purchase and all I said I was that I would call the state insurance commission. They handle cases of fraud.
An extended service agreement, or contract, is a type of insurance.

Good idea on the insurance commission. Will keep that in my back pocket.
